What do they mean by a "USB dock"?
USB usually means Universal Serial Bus, iirc.

Quite correct, the Sigma USB dock facilitates firmware upgrades, AF adjustments, and optical stabilisation adjustments for Sigma lenses. It connects to a PC/MAC via a USB cable, hence its name. What do they mean by a "USB dock"?

The dock is camera mount specific with the Sony & Pentax mount versions being introduced first (I think).

WHAT YOU CAN DO IN SIGMA OPTIMIZATION PRO
It is possible to do the following operations in Sigma Optimization Pro.
Lens firmware update - Lens firmware can be updated to the latest version via the internet.
Lens customization
Focus Setting - Focus can be set at each of 4 shooting distance ranges for fixed focal lenses, and each of 16 ranges (4 focusing distance ranges in x 4 shooting distance ranges) in total for zoom lenses.
AF Speed Setting - AF speed can be selected from 3 modes (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).
Focus Limiter Setting - Range of the AF drive can be set (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).
OS Setting - For the Optical Stabilizer, 3 unique view modes are available. This offers the most suited OS (Optical Stabilizer) function for any shooting style (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).
However, it's only of use to those who might have lenses from the 'new' range as this note states:-WHAT YOU CAN DO IN SIGMA OPTIMIZATION PRO

A date has been announced for the Sigma USB dock for Pentax & Sony. The USB dock will go on sale; April 25, 2014
This has to be good news in that Sigma will no doubt start to release new lenses for the Pentax mount providing more lens choice. the 18mm - 35 Art lens will really plug a gap and surely be very effective on a K3.
