A cracking shot! Also brilliant turned 90 degrees as I found I was tilting my head to view lol.

I took these test shots really, with the K! and a DFA* 70-200 f2.8 back in November, the position was not ideal but hurriedly taken hand held, from where I temporarily parked the car, having tested this lens further up the road by Wistmans Wood with a tripod, see earlier post.
The lens was returned to Amazon BTW for reasons I mentioned in another thread. The shots hopefully demonstrate how good a lens it was, I would love to have kept it and if I was 10-15 years younger I would have (due to weight) LOL.
Enjoy;

Another visit yesterday down to the wreck that's gradually shrinking. K1 and 28-105mm on a grey and wet day.

Most interesting topic. I too couldn't resist in playing with your pic Spad in Rawtherapee. Here it is in black and white but the detail is good, I have used RT to resize it, new to me as I usually use GIMP, and ticked 'Allow upscaling'.

Best viewed on a PC and large monitor, initially I looked on my mobile and saw just darkness ! Great pictures of Orion, and the glow on the first one is magical, I'm guessing it's light pollution but who cares when you get a result like this. What is glowing on the 3rd picture lower down? and is it still looking South at Orion but at an angle I cant quite make it out.

I don't know anything about Mirrorless cameras, but I watched a Youtoob fella with one who was cursing his for always getting sensor dust spots, said they are like "magnets for dust these Mirrorless cameras".

The kit I use mostly when out and about taking a rucksack are;

K1 with
DA* 11-18mm f2.8
DFA 28-105 ED DC WR
and this usually is enough weight as the rucksack is heavy too, filters etc.
If going for Bird shots I will just take 1 lens, the DA* 300mm with sometimes the TC 1.4 WR and perhaps take the KP instead of the K1.

After a long break from Film era I started out with a digital camera in 2019, a K-X second hand and bought a Silver KP in February? I think, 2020, and may now consider selling, low shutter count 4057 "get in touch" if you're interested May throw in a 50-200 DA WR lens too that I got with the K-X.

Also I had an extravagance with a DFA* 85mm f1.4 which is not used, count on your hands (probably just one hand) the times I've used it, I might part with this too.

I'll admit to buying (and returning) a DFA* 70-200 f2.8 lens from Amazon, a great lens but far too heavy to use often, then the price went down so requested a return and they accepted.

I have a DFA 100mm Macro f2.8 WR too that sometimes gets an outing. A few old SMC M lens too with my SLR collection.

Thanks Spad and Gareth, yeah you are right there is a reddish colour cast - I forgot this is caused with the filter I use and rushed them out as usual, easily missed when lots of red bracken and foliage about. I always use the 2 second timer with the tripod and slow shutter, there are defo faults with these pics LOL. tripod leg in the 2nd pic I had another play with the 1st pic, here it is;

Nice dramatic shots, I enjoyed viewing them, love the Raven ? bird shot the way it looks at the camera. it was the same weather here in Plymouth yesterday, quite rough and breezy.
