great, lots of interest..
It seems at the moment as though the meet is going to be somewhere in the Watford / St. Albans area, with Andy's location just dragging the point west a touch, and with Tim and Will suggesting both, which is handy.
How about a when..
Weekends only for me I'm afraid, until I get some more holiday at the beginning of April, but otherwise I'm fairly open diary wise at the moment. This makes me sound as though I have an organised life.. I don't. I just don't have a diary, and need to be reminded by Mrs. Liam when there's something I should be doing..
OK, here's a list of dates, for weekends only to start with.. copy the list changing the dates you definitely can't make to RED, and after several posts, we should have narrowed it down to those dates that can be made left in black.. in theory.

I'm trying to remember Long Itchington.. My Brother lives on the outskirts, on the Southam side, so I haven't driven through for a long time. I remember there being the village pond in the middle, and the road forks off towards Cov there, but I can't remember a lake??? I moved away 20 years ago though.
Bracknell Market's still there.. so on a Friday or Saturday, you're now not limited to pound shops and charity shops.. , and I haven't been in the George for a while, but we did go in for a drink before a film (they've got a cinema next to it now) once or twice.
Anyway, must go to work..
Cheers

Brian, that's spooky. I'm from Southam originally (well age 8-18 ), and my Mum still lives there.. my brother in Long Itchington.. I may even know your friends.. or a family member, and if they drink around Southam, then I'm sure my brother would.
Scared now..

I will, once the time is right, stick a ruler across a proper map, and get the epicentre accurately..
Oh, and Tim, while we're on the subject of Farnham Royal, IIRC that was where a pub cricket team came from that we used to play a few years ago. I think the pub was the Printer's Devil or something.. seems to ring a bell.

on another thread, (spirit-o-)Will, and I mentioned the possibility of a get together for us southerners. Obviously everyone who wants to turn up would be welcome, from wherever they're based though. I had this idea that perhaps we could map the locations of all interested parties and try and find a sort of midpoint for the gathering, to cut down on the distance you'd all have to travel.. to this end, I've devised this little map..

So far the list is..
1: Will: Stevenage
2: Liam: Bracknell
3: Tony: Crawley
4: Peter: Brentwood
5: Mongoose: Cambridge
6: Tim: Farnham Royal.. (Not In Slough)
The meeting point at the moment would be around the
[Barnet / Enfield]
area.. I'll be more accurate as time goes by. If you're interested, add to the thread, and I'll place you, and reconfigure the map to suit. Then we work out a date, and turn up en masse.. preferably in a pub car park just before lunch..
That way we get a random place to spend an afternoon taking pictures of, be it a steam railway, rose covered cottages, or a concrete block of flats (If it works out as Bracknell town centre, I'll cheat.. I wouldn't waste batteries on it)
Thoughts???
Obviously, as a point of internet safety, please no unaccompanied minors.. etc.
Cheers

EDIT: Actually, scratch that, it's a bit of the original site, but now taken over by serachportal.information.com
so it looks as though they are indeed gone.

Only reason I asked about the grads is that you've done a really nice job of balancing the exposure apart from the sun burning out in the top one...
To be honest, by the time the second and third ones were taken, the light was failing, so there wasn't as much latitude between the bright and dark areas, as with the first.
As for getting together, I'm up for that. How about getting a few southerners together, finding an equidistant(ish) point, and all turn up there with camera gear in tow. It could be a place with lots of architectural beauty, or a quaint village scene.. or it could be a disused quarry in the middle of nowhere.. a challenge say.
Of course there will be one building nearby.. a pub that does food, and as long as we don't go near the cars for a couple of hours afterwards, maybe a sweet sherry.
I'll start a thread in General chat.
Cheers
