the sunsets on the south coast at the moment are stunning. It's a 2 1/2 hour round trip for me, but it seems to be worth it. I shot 200 odd photos yesterday, and instead of having the usual 2 or 3 worth keeping, I could probably use about 3 or 4 dozen, so that's a good day.
Anyway, here are three of them. All shot in RAW, and basically exported from SilkyPix as is. A little bit of fettling in GIMP, and job done.

*ist DL | 18-55mm at 55mm | 1/350s @ f11 | ISO 200

*ist DL | 18-55mm at 55mm | 1/750s @ f9.5 | ISO 200

*ist DL | 18-55mm at 55mm | 1/s @ f45 | ISO 800
If you're waking up to the usual British weather (or indeed 10ft of snow in Canada) then I hope these cheer you up as you step out into it this morning.
Brought to you by Benson and Hedges and insomnia.
Cheers

You (should be able to) can use the remote from behind as well. Get a small piece of mirrored plastic, or one of those 2" square mosaic mirror tiles from the DIY superstore.
Gaffer tape the piece of mirror to a length of surgically adapted coat hanger, and the other end to a tripod leg, adjust as necessary to receive the IR beam from the right angle to reflect to the receiver and job done.

LiamD, did you know McTavishes burnt down in June 2006 ? So I didn't get my coffee !!!
I'll have to let Mrs. Liam know. Did you notice if the other branch was still there.. three quarters of the way up the high street on the opposite side? Obviously if I'd known about the fire, I'd have mentioned it at the time.
Got a couple of pics from my time in the 'Fort' , I'll try and post a couple later, ( new lens, first time all RAW, don't know if I like it ) ?
Cheers

the south coast had a sunset. A bit of a gamble driving all the way down there on the off chance, but I got lucky. Fort William eh? Try McTavishes, just up from Nevis Sport on the high street, oposite the little park. Gorgeous cup of coffee, and IIRC the jacket potatos are quite nice as well.
Tim, I didn't see any comets, but then I was only facing west and wasn't looking for one, so it could have been behind me. I can have another look, if you have more detail though.

I bought the AF360FGZ earlier in the week to go on my DL, so welcome to my learning curve..
The flash you see is the pre-flash, and with your eye up to the viewfinder, you wouldn't necessarily see the main flash, with one eye closed and the mirror up.
Just a guess, but on the controls for the flash sync (three sets of triangles, and then HS, have you got it set to anything other than the green icon to the left? If for instance, it's set to HS, then I believe that's used as a fill in flash, and would cause this??? Or, you have an exposure control, that should (normally) be set to zero. This is the scale about half way up on the left of the LCD panel. This can be adjusted by clicking the S button in the middle of the small dial, and turning said dial.
A couple of guesses anyway. Of course there are actually people on here who know what they're on about, so you could always wait for one of them to arrive instead...

can't vouch for the supplier etc. but 100% pos feedback, on 1000 items, is pretty safe.
That's right.
I'm on a roll..
Now, to replace the main pc board on the *ist D (this also covers the DS and DL), first remove the widget cam from the...
Nope, I think I'll quit while I'm ahead..

teh adaptor is working fine. It's supposed to stay in the body, AFAIK. This is because, on my adaptor anyway, you have the clip that locks it in place. If you locktite the lens to the adaptor, and the clip isn't released fully with the lens release button, you'll be stuck with that lens on the camera. Once the lens is removed you can always just pull back the sptring clip in the adaptor to release it.

no filters.. I just exposed for the shade of gold/orange etc, for each shot and let the rest take it's mark from that.
I've put the top one up in ephotozine.. my first one so far. I might have a way to go though, after seeing some people's submissions.
12 hours in London.. you are dedicated.. I'm about 25 miles from London, and I think the last time I went there was 3 years ago, and that was just getting off the Eurostar and getting the local train home.
I might even go again next year.
Where abouts were you in London? Obviously photographic evidence is mandatory..
