Hi Pete,

sorry, I meant the originals before you PSed them. Just convert the RAW straight to jpg. Takes a lot longer to fix than start over.

Cheers

Spellcheck Pete..

On the wedding page, variaty should be variety.

Portraits.. natures should be nature's.

Landscapes, comma after 'world'.

Apart from that.. very nice.. and I can live with the music.. just.

Hi all,

just a quick tip for those of you using Photoshop or GIMP..

If you are working on an image and have multiple layers open, yet need to switch all but one of them off to view a single layer, rather than clicking the eye symbol individually for each layer to make it invisible; do this..

With Photoshop, hold down the Alt key, whilst clicking on the eye symbol next to the layer you wish to view on it's own.

With GIMP, the same can be done whilst holding the Shift key and clicking the relevant eye symbol.

Clicking the eye again (while holding the appropriate key) will make all the layers visible again. If you have two or more layers visible and want to reopen them all, double click the eye on any visible layer using the same method.

HTH

Hi,

I stumbled across this while out on the interweb..

http://pippin.gimp.org/image_processing/image_processing.html#id2523005

Quote:
The text presumes that the reader is able to understand code to a certain extent, and that the combination of the code showing the actual logical steps involved combined with a basic introduction to the same procedure in english will provide an understanding of what is happening to the image data and why the algorithms yield the output images they do.
Thought it might be useful for someone wanting to know more about the nuts and bolts of how image processors work..

GIMP... I got it... but my God, do I need tutorials? It is a very powerful program and I would like to learn how to handle it.
Hi Mediter,

I'm off out in about ten minutes, so the three basics that I employ for photos. These aren't to rescue a badd'n, that's another month of typing, but this'll just get the good ones a little better..

First, open the picture File | Open

then

Tools | Colour Tools | Levels

You'll see a histogram, the mountain range..

Underneath, there are three triangles.. one at each end, and one in the middle. You can drag these sideways. Take the one on the right, and drag it (if necessary) to the left, until it's under the last part of the "mountain". Again, if necessary, do the same with the left hand triangle, until it's just underneath the beginning of the "mountain".

Next, use the middle triangle to adjust the gamma (brightness), until happy.

Click OK.

Next, Tools | Colour Tools | Hue-Saturation

Change the bottom slider (Saturation) so that the figure reads 20. Adjust the slider above (Lightness) to suit your preferences.

Click OK.

Next, Filters | Enhance | Unsharp mask

Set the following values..

Radius 5.0

Amount 0.40

Threshold 0

Click OK.

This should give you a start on those three functions, and is enough to be going on with to print out your picture.

This is a very, very basic beginners guide, before someone starts..

There's much more you can do, but that'll crisp up your first images.

Hope that helps,

Cheers

"can't afford photoshop"

Use GIMP.. does the same (pretty much) and is completely free.

I'll post up links tomorrow, with a few hints and tips..

Well done Dan..

Freaky that you chose reflections. I was thinking that if I ever won one, that I'd do the subject, after getting inspiration the other night..

Again well done.. and to everyone else who entered as well.

Hi,

if you have several pages, then CSS and SSI (Server Side Includes) is the way to go. Learn to code the HTML yourself.. time consuming, but you'll know every letter of the code by the time you've finished.

There are plenty of sites that do basic layout templates, that you can then customize for yourself. I'll happily answer any questions you have.

I've just done the better part of 17 hours work, so that's as good as it gets for now, but I'll explain further in the morrow.

Cheers
