I thought that the interval between tide times was constant. So if you have a set of times for a given place, you could use that data to extrapolate future dates.

Under reporting the SR setting (not sure if 2.8mm is possible) will have no adverse effect on the image. The reason is that the sensor shift will be minuscule. It would be interesting to see how it differs from a setting of 2.8.

As I understand it, the astrotracer makes use of the SR gismo to move the sensor gradually to eliminate star trails. The four images are automatically combined into a single file in the camera which you process like a standard image in appropriate software.
