I would keep it as a compact with built in zoom.

Copied from For Sale topic for an MX-1.
- bigger sensor,
- faster max. frame rate,
- slightly lighter (I know some like all the the weight),
- better auto white balance in artificial light,
- better low light performance, and
- weather & dust resistance (This could have been a USP in this category).
Any other thoughts?
I forgot to add that i recon it would / could be similar to the Canon G7X Mark 3 (or even the G5X Mk 2 with its EVF)).

I don't use mine very often (mainly KP now) but, when I do, the image quality even SOOC still amazes me. Better than other similar small sensor cameras I've had (Fuji, Samsung, Lumix, Olympus) all of which have been sold. Ebay prices appear to show that the MX-1 is actually increasing in value. I have always wished that Pentax had developed that line but, as that is highly unlikely, I doubt that I would ever sell mine.
I've often ponderd what an improved MX-1 (MX-2?) should be:-I don't use mine very often (mainly KP now) but, when I do, the image quality even SOOC still amazes me. The MX-1 shared much of its technology with the Olympus XZ-2 including the sensor and lens. MX-1 development seems to have been dropped when Ricoh took Pentax over soon after the MX-1's release in 2013. There was no successor to the Olympus either so presumably the collaboration ceased.

- hot-shoe
- fast processor
If it follows recent silly naming practice, even though it would be a new camera 7 years on, it would be the Pentax MX-1 Mark II.
