Images where the main subject is Black and it cannot be a B&W photo.
This is to see how one can retain the detail when taking a photo where the main subject is black. It is something I really need help on learning. Go ahead....give it a try, sharing what works or does not work...we all get to learn something right????

I have always had difficulty capturing the detail that the naked eye sees in black subjects. It is said black animals in shelters are adopted much less, due to their photos which lack in features, as the black blends into itself.
So get out your cameras and remember it is black I wish to see in the foreground as the focal point/subject. People, clothing, animals and still life are all acceptable, no black & white photos please.
I will be judging on the quality of the detail and of course creativity.
I would also like to know the techniques you used, Hoping to see some stunning shots, and to learn something besides.
Have Fun;

My object was to make it look like it was a tin photo that was hand coloured.
I went into lightroom3.3 and desaturated. Applied some Vignetting and I gave the whole picture a slight grey green tone. I hand painted the car by copying the orginal rust colour and then hand applied it back on. I took the photo into Picasa, and up the shadow.
( I also went into Picnic to have a go, but it began to loose the "tin" feel, so I stopped)

Was good fun!
