Did you take into account this side of the globe, where we live in Igloo, have 60 below weather.
Do any of you know what happens to plastic after 40 below?
It turn brittel and crack and becomes no more!
Here is a picture I took two day ago of my spring, where we carry our water from.
Now what am I going to do?!

Two weeks is a nice span of time. However, apology excepted, BUT...now I am looking for the "too late" fellows to enter first in Gordies Comp.
Many thanks;

Don and Kahlua - What an awesome first entry. A well executed and daring move with the black on black. The contours of the glass are wonderfully lit without any glare and the reflection of the glass in the surface is well captured. Very clean lines made this entry unforgettable. Way to set the bar.
Tyr and Black Moment – Dark background, dark subject, and dark theme. The folds in the dress are clear as is the contrast of the trim on the fabric, well done. The whiteness of the light used to illuminate the photo is a little harsh as is the shadow to the left of your Goth princess; this however is only my opinion.
Darlene and Black Kettle – I really like the kettle, and the extra challenge you gave yourself of live fire (not always an easy subject). I did find the picture very noisy in the surrounding area however and think maybe a closer crop would have helped IMHO.
TOZZA27 and The Black Arts – Loved this idea. Any art can be black....Even photography. The cameras on the sides seem to chant this on either sides of the macabre literature. The glare on the book was a tad too bright though washing out the evil. Great execution
Darkskies and Look into my eyes – And be hypnotised with love. What a lovely capture, this K9 would not sit too long waiting for an enraptured human to share a home. The features, emotion, and gentleness of this dog are certainly not lost in the blackness of fur due to a well executed photograph.
DrOrloff and Bęte noire – How majestic can one beast be in his/her beauty. The colour of this dog, from the browns to greys, expertly woven through black fur complements his regal yet humble appearance. Chin-chin to the Photographer, very well captured. I would have this companion share my hearth.
Geordie01 and Do not disturb – Wonderful title for a wonderful Photo. Again, with a black on black nothing was lost in the detail or mood of this picture. The lines are clean and the distance perfect. Though there is shadow aplenty the placement only compliments the forlorn tele. The only thing I wonder is why is the owner avoiding the ring?
Cardiff-gareth and Gentleman Jack – Clean lines, crystal appearance and well shown in its black background. Although this photo is defiantly magazine worthy, and would certainly sell a quart or two, it is not exactly on topic of a black subject. I did like it though
Davidtrout and the boiler? – Clean concise and not lacking in any detail due to the darkness of the subject. The rivets and handle stand out in great detail although being of the same matte colour. I would like to know if a flash was used, and if this is part of a locomotive. Well done as always.
Gunner and ZR19 – A good choice of subject considering the topic. All the detail is there, and the environment natural for your model. All in all a good photo. I do feel however that the dust/dirt on the tread was more the reason for the detail rather than the technique of photographing a black object. Just my opinion.
GlynM and Black Keys – This is a very clean clear capture of an everyday item we all take for granted.... until it malfunctions. I must say this is expertly focused and lit with no shadows lacking light and no detail lost in shadow. Way to take back black.
Hyram and “La porte Noire” – This is, if I may, a close up “portrait” of an inanimate object. The blue black of a glossy painted (possibly tarred) door with red faintly showing through, fact of its long life, is very apparent in this snap of lens. Light, dark and photographers sense all come through in artistic detail with a simple door.
Sandinista and Black heeled Brouges – Every stitch every whole every detail caught in this photo of something that stays forever under us. Although you also chose to display on a black background all the craftsmanship remains visible. Well done.
And now.....
1st - Geordie01 and Do not disturb
2nd - Hyram and “La porte Noire” & DrOrloff and Bęte noire
3rd - Don and Kahlua & Darkskies and Look into my eyes
Too many HC’s to name..... Ya’ll didn’t make this easy!!!!!
Onward Geordie01........ To Be Continued.....

I had a favorite....it was Don's. THAT WAS AMAZING. It did indeed have the WOW factor.
It was fantastic to see the many interpretations of one photo. I do congratulated our podium winners.

Help me understand
I am looking for main objects that are predominantly black, so I can see how to capture the detail...and not lose so much of it.
Kindly Yours;

Relax boys relax.
The photo above and this one was taken in Newfoundland this week, this place looks amazing, frozen. Take a look at this. Even the barren rocks look froze.
We are due for a snowstorm tomorrow...a big one too.
I will be returning home in a few days (by plane not ship)...hoping not to get snowed in.
Now off I go to photograph some Chinese plastic.
