Please stop this thread. I need a lot of good publicity about the K-3,so I can pick up a K-5ii (perhaps s) at a rock bottom price. This discussion is going to push the prices back up

I think with that selection of lenses I may be more inclined to upgrade the K-7 (to a K-5 variant). Oh, and throw the 70 DA Limited into the mix to make the decision harder

Also in the camp of thinking this migh be quite a useful walk around lens for much of what I do. I'm curious to find out more.

Big upgrade in image quality when the going gets tough as well as some other features that are nice to have....much quieter shutter, much better live view implementation being two that spring to mind. I also prefer the handling and feel of the newer bodies, but that is very much a matter of taste.

I think you might mean RedSnapper, which are very good. But I don't think they're UK made. Very happy with mine

For those who desire it, also looks like Nikon will beat Pentax to producing a "digital MX" (or digital FM in this case). That potentially appeals to me rather a lot, but I recognise that I may be in a very small minority - the K-3 may be much more relevant for most people. It'll be interesting to see how things develop over coming months - but I think I'll keep the K-5 for now anyway and let the early adopters do all my research. The K-5 remains rather more capable than me.

The best EVFs are light years away from the almost unusable kind of thing you get in a mass market bridge camera.

The new generation used by Sony, Olympus, Fuji, et al in their system cameras is pretty good to work with - often offering a larger screen than APSC OVF and very useful for showing what final exposure will look like (if you set them up that way). The viewfinder in something like the X5 simply doesn't compare...it's horrid.

But even the best EVFs do still have a short time lag, which can be an issue for rapidly moving subjects, and they are not best suited to continuous shooting. But for many people who've not tried them, they may be surprisingly good and offer some major advantages.

The experience is nothing like shooting with a rear LCD and shouldn't be confused with that.

Personally, I think Ricoh/Pentax would be much better exploring this particular FF avenue rather than coming up with a traditional FF dSLR. I simply don't see how they will compete effectively with Canikon in the latter (boat has been missed and is on the horizon) but I fancy their chances of nipping at Sony's heels and being able to grab some market if they do it reasonably quickly. A very heavily reworked K-02 perhaps.

No they look fine with black lenses... Which was the norm with film cameras in any case unless you paid extra for black!
