Silver K-3

I a toying with the idea of a silver K-3 as it's only an extra £100 after trade in but a a bit worried about the paint finish. Can anyone who has had a previous silver body tell me if the silver is just sprayed on (and so easily scratched during normal use) or is it fairly durable.

My silver K-5 seems durable and no issues so far.

I have the K-5 Limited. The paint is OK. It's not easily scratched and doesn't look cheep like a plastic silver-painted camera.
I sold the black k-5 because I've got used to the bigger grip of the silver one.
Looking at the two K-3, the only difference I can think of is the silver one not getting so hot under the sun in the desert.(apart of design)

Just out of interest, I can see that the silver ones would look nice with the silver lenses... but don't they look a bit funny with the ordinary black lenses?

No they look fine with black lenses... Which was the norm with film cameras in any case unless you paid extra for black!

I would like to have silver FA Limited (43mm and 77mm), but I am OK with black lenses.

I only really want silver so my FA* 250-600mm doesn't look out of place

I also have the k-5 ltd and I did not have any problems with the silver finish. And I agree, it looks great with both black and silver lenses.

If it is anything like the silver finish on the old MZ series - no issues and 25-30 years later - all of my MZs are still perfect.
