Agree a FF Pentax learning from what Sony got right with the A7 sounds like a good way to go. Especially if the viewfinder is as good as the Fuji FT-1 is rumoured to be (closer to real time/no lag than any EVF to date). Much more interesting than bloated Df.

Received in superb shape - after I got through the Scandinavian bubble-wrap mountain! Great transaction - thanks Bjorn.

For the Sigma, my advice is choose the earlier version which is probably the slightly better performer of the two. After obsessive testing at SRS one day, I also thought it was more consistent across the frame than the Tamron 10-24 alternative. You do get a slightly weird moustache distortion from the 10-20, but it rarely gave me any problems and I bet Lightroom probably has automatic corrections available in any case (if you use LR, that is). I thought the Sigma was a very good lens especially for the price, with the bonus of good build quality and a nice case to keep it in. Trouble is, mine stayed in the case most of the time....which is why I don't have it any more

What's the view from those who've used it? Is it much different from version 7? Cheers, Jon

Hope the tc allows the SR to work at the corrected focal length. Other than that, I think I'd rather they concentrate efforts on producing a WR DC 80ish to 400ish zoom that would be within reach of people who'd like an upgrade from the 55-300. I think that'd sell a lot better than a big heavy 300/2.8.

Yongnuo is your friend. Good quality manual flash guns (YN-560 ii or iii) based on a venerable Canon design and superb value for money at around £50-£60. I reckon the build quality of mine is better than the mid-range Metz I used to have. Only issue is the macro thing - would a ring flash be better ideally?

I'd go for the K-5ii if dust is an important consideration. And for ultimate IQ suggest the iiS if you can find one at a price you're happy with. I found the DRii removal system is more effective than the sensor shaking earlier DR system in the K-30/50 bodies. Also generally tank like build and very long battery life. I also like the top LCD. However, ability to use AA batteries, and focus peaking for manual lenses, are nice features on the K-30/50. And they do leave more money for lenses.....

With the dust protection system for the higher end Pentax bodies in particular (similar to the Supersonic Wave Filter offered by Olympus and Panasonic) it really should be a non-issue.

I have only ever had two or three specs of dust (and that includes going on safari and changing lenses (not weather sealed ones) in sandy Botswana). The camera can be set to take a dust map picture for you to show you whether there are any specs that need to be removed - every time I've checked over the past several months there has been nothing there.

In the past with the odd spec I did get, I have never needed more than a rocket blower and a couple of activations of the dust removal system with Pentax to get shot of it. But to be honest I have cleaned otber sensors (notably micro four thirds, which are a little more prone) and it's really not difficult if you use the right products and take some care - a two minute job.

The 8mm Samyang/Rokinon/Bower/Vivitar/Wallimex lenses are available in Pentax K mount for around £230-270 depending which brand you buy and where from (they're badged engineered versions of the same lens). Will give an almost circular fisheye effect on a full frame camera, and manual focus/manual aperture so fine for the K1000. SRS sell them. It's not cheap...but it's cheap for a brand new decent quality lens.

For goodness sake Gareth, the user in this instance would be "deleted"

You need to watch more Dr Who!
Or perhaps I need to watch less.
