It looks like the wait could soon be over. So good news indeed, I wonder what the price will be though?

Must be better than the third party one that I bought which is pretty rubbishy. Most of the functions don't work!!!

Would make my 60-250 f4 a 84-400 f5.6. If the auto focus works it would be great
K30, K-x, *ist DL. Pentax 60-250 F4, Sigma 18-125 & 70-300

If it's IQ is as good as the Pentax predecessor then those extra features (AF, WR, etc) will make it an excellent addition for anyone with telephoto lenses. I've used the Teleplus and Tamron AF versions, and IMO they aren't in the same league as the Pentax model

It doesn't look that much different to the other branded 1.4x hsm compatible teleconverters...

think price will be $400 or £400, you only have to look at the prices of the new 360 + 540 flashes... AW ...

I guess it's for the dearer prime telephotos rather than slower zooms (AW classification for full sealing rather than the consumer level WR many of us have as on 18 - 135mm DA)

Nice pairing for the 300mm DA star I guess.Beyond my pocket for now.

I hope they start work on a 300mm 2.8 to go with this converter....

Give them time - it only took them 5 years (plus) to come up with the converter (which they had the basic design from their earlier versions) - September 2024 is my guess for the 300 2.8

Think you're being over optimistic there

I make that a 32mm larger max aperture than the existing 300mm F4. Thaa's a very big and heavy lens.

Hope the tc allows the SR to work at the corrected focal length. Other than that, I think I'd rather they concentrate efforts on producing a WR DC 80ish to 400ish zoom that would be within reach of people who'd like an upgrade from the 55-300. I think that'd sell a lot better than a big heavy 300/2.8.

Pentax made an FA 300mm F2.8 until 2004 and before that a 'A' series. The FA weighed in at approx. 2.5ks , the 'A' series was a tad under 3kg.

Yes it is, but if Sigma can make one why can't Pentax? I only think Pentax went with an f/4 300mm to keep the weight down of the system which is a shame really.

My 400mm f/4 weighs 2270 grams so not far away from the FA 300mm 2.8 which very rarely comes up for sale...
