I have found a great difference in time to write files to the card between a Sandisk 80 MB/s and a 90 MB/s so now I only buy 90s. I use 64 GB cards these days, they fit plenty and can be had for under €20.

Always buy a reputable brand from a reputable dealer as there are apparently a lot of fakes out there. My cards are mostly Sandisk but I just got a Transcend which seems to perform well.

My second card is always a 32GB Toshiba FlashAir, to add wifi funcionality.

70 quid is too much for an SF7, even if it comes with the F 35-70mm (I'm assuming it's the Pentax F, there are many other 35-70mm lenses out there.

The closest model I've tried is the SFXn, which despite being ugly and noisy, is a very capable camera. It should be possible to get a working one for £20 or so, then add a lens. The F lens mentioned above usually costs around £35-£40 maximum and is optically decent, though not very fast (in terms of maximum aperture).

Unlike some of the later auto-focus models, the SFXn is quite usable with manual focus lenses. A cheap 50mm f/1.7 could be a good option to get started with.

A special edition DSLR is nothing new. At least Pentax generally make them very nice looking.

Still, a lot of people are yearning for a K-3 II replacement...

My mark I is still going strong so nothing for me but I hope they continue having an APS-C flagship.

At the very least it's good news that third party lens manufacturers are supporting Pentax.

If I had to do a trip like that with minimal digital gear I'd be very tempted to take my Fujifilm mirrorless and a couple of tiny primes, but I'd miss the feel of using my DA limited lenses, so I'd probably go with my K-3 (same size as K-5) and the DA 21mm, 35mm and 70mm limited primes. If I had to go down to just one lens it'd be the 35mm.

I took film as well as digital gear when I went to New York and had no trouble with films in the airport, or in other places - I believe there were several places (Empire State building for example) which had obligatory x-ray scanners, and my photos showed no damage. I have a couple of film cases which shield (presumably with lead) the films from x-rays and even 400 ISO film should be fine with several trips through airport x-ray scanners. I believe in the US that you have the right to request hand inspection of items but I'm not sure how likely the security people are to comply. In short, I'd take film with me if I wasn't sure about being able to get it there.

Yesterday I bought a very lightly used Fujifilm X-T20 and today I wake up to see that the X-T30 has been announced.

Perhaps if I'd waited a little the used (and new) X-T20 prices would have come down a bit more but I knew the X-T30 would be arriving on the scene some time soon and decided to go ahead anyway.

My main Fujifilm camera is now four years newer than my main Pentax camera (K-3). I haven't used it much so far but the AF speed is miles ahead of the K-3 or the X-M1.

I stuck a K 35/3.5 on it this morning and hopefully will have time for a little play on my lunch break.

Pentax will have the GRiii, the 11-18mm f/2.8 and the re-vamped 35mm f/2, maybe even a mock-up or two of some of the upcoming FF lenses due in the not too distant future. Or even a K-3 mark iii...

I would think that being at trade shows makes sense for them.

Excellent photos capturing the interesting shapes of the flock and the wonderful dusk colours.

Great price for a reputedly very good lens. I've wondered how this compared to the DA 70mm limited as 70mm lenses are few and far between.

Though I have no intention of replacing my K-3, I do think that a replacement should be released. The KP obviously isn't it (only 1/6000s max shutter speed, no top screen, smaller battery) unless they have made the very poor decision of making their FF model the only one with these high-end characteristics. I'm sure the KP is a fine camera and IQ is said to be even better than that of the K-3, but it's not an APS-C flagship.

I suspect I'll be using my K-3 for considerably longer than I used my K200D as there's very little missing that I would want to change. I prefer to spend what cash I have on lenses and upgrading my Fujifilm mirrorless camera (which is far from being a flagship model).
