I suspect this isn't the only DSLR camera they will launch in their special anniversary year - I think it's basically a "quick win" with a classy looking minor modified KP, very much in the tradition that Pentax has followed over the years (LX 2000, 645D Special Edition, etc.).

This is a personal view (though no less valid for that):- the KP grip was and still is an unnecessary gimmick and the wooden version looks even more ridiculous. It is a great camera and from its inception it should have been designed with a proper built-in grip to house the D-Li90 battery.

A special edition DSLR is nothing new. At least Pentax generally make them very nice looking.
Still, a lot of people are yearning for a K-3 II replacement...
My mark I is still going strong so nothing for me but I hope they continue having an APS-C flagship.

I don't think this is the new model we have been primed to expect. I remember reading somewhere quoting from someone who was apparently an 'insider' that the new model wasn't a variant of either the K-3 or KP...but completely new.
Have to say though I do prefer the redesigned mirror box and I don't mind the wooden grip either.

The Japanese seem to like customisation, but to be honest I could be quite partial to having a unique version myself. I have a nice green Pentax Q-S1 that looks prettty good! It takes pictures as well.
