The only real reasons to buy FF these days are the viewfinder, decreased DoF and to be able to use older FF lenses with their original field of view. All of that is nice but for the vast majority of people it's simply not worth paying double what an APS-C camera would cost.

Third party makers will wait to see how the market reacts to the Pentax FF model before bringing out their FF lenses in a PK mount.

To correct my earlier mistake, I should have stated "Av" mode (aperture priority) rather than "A" mode (full auto).

The spec on photorumors mentions a KAF3 mount. If correct, would that mean that screw-drive will be gone?
Make a FF DSLR and then cripple it by making some of the best lenses ever built, which you still have in productions, far less useful on it??? I can't see that happening at all. The FA limited lenses are what will drive sales of this camera. If they release a DFA* version of the FA* 85/1.4, that'll help too.

WHat are the opinions on kit lenses to be sold with this? Personally I think the most likely option at present is a 50mm prime. If the DAL 50/1.8 is FF compatible and the DA designation doesn't force the camera into crop mode then I think it's the most likely. If not that, then the FA 50/1.4 or a revamped version of it. But I think it's likely that they come out with a slow 28-70ish zoom too.

If they go the same way as with APS-C models, the new FF model will be around the price of the cheaper CaNikons but smaller, with superior build quality, superior feature set but slightly inferior AF. I suspect it'll also have a bigger, brighter viewfinder than any other FF DSLR ever made.

I think if they make it with a de-crippled K mount allowing metered manual or Av modes with K and M42 lenses, it'll be a hit with everyone who loves old glass.

This may also finally be the moment to give the FA limiteds a make-over and re-release them as DFA with updated coatings quick-shift.

I don't see the 1.4x converter playing well with a lens at f/5.6.

I can't afford either lens or the new FF model, so I really don't care. And I just got a K3 so I really, really don't care.

I'm sure that all the old lenses will work to some degree. Hopefully even with DA lenses it will be possible to turn off the crop, as some are FF capable, though they may have a bit more vignetting than would be desireable.

If Pentax don't un-cripple the K-mount for this camera it will be a crime. Imagine being able to use all the old M and K series primes as you would on an old film camera - either metered manual or A modes. People who want a digital Leica but can't afford one would flock to it.

I like the framing between the trees and the fields in the background, a bit different from the usual shots of this subject.

I got the 75-150 last summer and was blown away by the image quality, even wide open it's incredibly sharp. I really must try to get out and about with it again.

Hardly a bargain. I'd be much more interested in the used A7 they have for 700 quid, to use all my old manual lenses on
