The portable cross-section can be a collapsible window squeegee - which by the way I use as a monopod.

As far as I'm concerned ... to hell with SanDisk. When I fell in the trap of purchasing a fake SD I reported it to them and they managed to close-down not one but two sellers as a result.

Do these sellers of fakes make a dent in SD's profits - overall YES. The least SD could have done was send me a thank you with a nominal 512Mb card not for ratting-out the guy but for protecting THEIR property rights.

Why did I report it? Because I know what it is like to lose a card full of images resulting from a bad product in the guise of a recognised brand name.

Does SD care - NO. They didn't even bother to say Thanks you.

I've not had a need for it for a long time as explorer meets my needs but, I stil have CROA from http://davidcrowell.com/Croa/Default.aspx handy.

The D80 has had continuous TV spots here recently and the Canon has a 8 or 10 page full colour flyer in today's paper.

Pentax did a big billboard campaign last year - They MUST keep it up.

IMO - it's not whether the camera can handle the speed - it will record as fast as the card can BUT, the transferring onto PC thru USB or whatever you're using - that's where the card speed comes in.

John, speaking of 30-year-old negs. Do you know of a way to clean them? I wasn't very careful with mine and between moving and storage over the years has taken its toll on the negs AND slides.

I agree with you in using the smaller cards because if it goes bad its only a small card.

I tried using software to reformat the card but no way Jose, would it let me. Good luck.

Thanks for the link. It was thru reading a link like that which had made me aware that fakes exist and how to identify them.

Here's another thing. I received 2x516 cards today. They didn't look right so I called SanDisk and guess what???? Counterfit.

I recently purchased 2x1Gb cards from an online shop in the US and the first went bust after the first use. I lost some important family shots. The other one still works but I'm afraid to use it.

I try reformatting the bad one but it stops and won't allow me to do anything, I can't even delete the images that are on it.

Moral of the story, for me anyway, stick to name brand (like Glyn) or purchase locally.
