Hi Guy's

Maybe I was being stupid however a word of advice, beware a UK seller selling fake Sandisk Extreme III 2GB SD cards for £26.99. I won't name the seller yet (E has a decent large feedback score), as I have given him/her the oppertunity to give me a full refund including return postage.

Obviously if I don't hear from from the seller ASAP, that will be a differnt matter.
Cheers
Brian.

Hi Brian
I think I've maybe been stupid .I'm just waiting on two coming for my K10D [which I'm delighted with]. How can you tell if they are fake?[ apart from the low price ]. Is this celler the same the same guy-Manchester way?

Looks like the same guy Fraser, Liams post is a great link but does not cover the Extreme III cards, the genuine artical has a triangular notch on the bottom edge, the one I have recieved does not, my PC sees it as 1.86GB capacity and will format (FAT and FAT32) it but the K10D does not recognize it, won't even format in the camera.

I got a bad feeling as soon as I opened the package, the blister pack that holds the card and the soft zipped storage pouch is to big to fit in it's box.

Have just scoured the guys feedback, most are green but when he has received a red he's not replied to any communications, looks like I'll have to file a complaint.
Cheers
Brian.

sounds like a negative feedback specifically mentioning that the card is a fake might be in order. Sorry to hear of your misfortune!

Hi All

Just an update, hope Fraser has the same outcome.

I have received a reply from the seller, on return of the SD card I will receive a full refund plus my return postage, hopefully this will be the end of it. Don't think I can really leave a neg as I will have no complaints as long as I receive my full refund and I'm not left out of pocket. Item has since been reordered from 7Dayshop at not to a bad price.
Cheers

The only problem is that the seller relies on this attitude so he can sell fake cards to the next guy who is not so savvy. Not your problem perhaps but an alternative might be to send an email to Sandisk if you are worried about a neg in return. They are always interested in people selling fake cards. How's about a name here?

Hi All

In answer to Kim's plea to name the seller, I was waiting till I recieved my refund which I'm glad to say arrived yesterday. The seller in question is e_cell , I'm a bit curious about the seller as he has received a fair bit of positive feedback regarding his SD cards, I really want to give him a neg but I can't really do that when there's been no problem getting my money back. I think I'll just skip the feedback but sent my photographic evidence to Sandisk and leave it at that.
Cheers
Brian.

As far as I'm concerned ... to hell with SanDisk. When I fell in the trap of purchasing a fake SD I reported it to them and they managed to close-down not one but two sellers as a result.

Do these sellers of fakes make a dent in SD's profits - overall YES. The least SD could have done was send me a thank you with a nominal 512Mb card not for ratting-out the guy but for protecting THEIR property rights.

Why did I report it? Because I know what it is like to lose a card full of images resulting from a bad product in the guise of a recognised brand name.

Does SD care - NO. They didn't even bother to say Thanks you.

Brian,

It's a tricky situation - leave negative feedback (like a fair few others have) and you're sure to get some back, and when you've got 100% positive, that's not what you want.

However, the sale of counterfeit goods isn't allowed on ebay (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html) so you could let ebay know what you received, with your photographic evidence, and let them deal with it.

At least one other customer of theirs got a fake card, but remember the majority of people wouldn't know a fake one if they got it, so who's to say how many others have one.

I think I'd bite the bullet, leave neg feedback, or at least neutral (something like "Counterfeit memory card supplied, got refund", pass the details to ebay, and if you get negative feedback in return, ask ebay to cancel it.

But that's easy for me to say.

Well the seller has made a right pigs ear of it.
In his haste to try a claw back his final value fees he's started an unpainditem distput instead of Mutual agreement indication, so noe ebay and paypal know I received a fake card.

Brian, thanks for the original heads up on this - I was looking around just after xmas for an extra SD card to go with the K10D and had spotted your first post which put me off buying on ebay. Funnily enough I'd got that same sellers cards saved in my watched items...

Hi,
I received my two dodgy cards last week and returned them. I was fully refunded today. I also got an unpaid on the electronic jumble sale.I'm afraid this guy has p****d me off and so has Ebay. I paid immediately with Paypal -it,s part of the same outfit. You would think they would keep records of transactions. Maybe, that's too complicated.Anyway, I'll be doing some serious complaining now.
On a lighter note, I hope everyone here has a Happy New Year.
Cheers
Fraser
