The A* 85mm and the 50mm you mentioned both are not auto focus. It is such a big shame that Pentax don;t produce more F1.4 auto focus lens. How wonderful it would be if all the Limted lenses are F1.4s.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
The Pentax FA*85/1.4 is auto focus if you can find and afford one.

My pal who is pretty high up in the world of cameras (he works in a camera shop cant say which one but it rhymes with press ups) has recomended I add this Pro 58mm lenss to my arsenal link .
He did also mention that it has plenty of chromatic abhoration. What does this mean.
It means you should never trust anyone who works for a shop that rhymes with press ups

Sigma also produced a 18mm f/3.5 some years ago, less popular than the Tokina and Tamron 17mm lenses. I've no idea of the IQ but if it's anywhere near as good as the 24mm/2.8 Superwide or 16mm/2.8 Fisheye it would be well worth a look.

Not easy to find as you say.
Zeiss Distagon T* 3,5/18 ZK ££££££££

or some old 3rd party 17mm Tokina, Tamron etc

John
Isn't the Zeiss the twin of the K/A 15/3.5?[/quote]Not as far as I am aware.

I am very happy with my FA 31mm Ltd. I use it whenever possible. It is a real level up from either the DA*16-50 or the sigma 18-50.
Now we're talking about primes, it's in a different league to any zoom. The FA-31 Ltd outresolves the "benchmark" lens that is used to compare just about every lens ever tested since before I was born, The Zeiss 50mm/1.4 Planar. There aren't many lenses that do outresolve the Planar but the 43mm Ltd, 31mm Ltd and FA-35/2 are amongst a select few that do. You have to get things into perspective
