The 8-16 is also worth considering as it's cheaper at the moment, £375 at SRS, the 10-20 being £429 (f/4-5.6) and £499 (f/3.5)

OK spider. I am quite excited by this shot. I like the waqy her pink flesh contrasts with your carpet. I like the way her pink toe nail reflects the light. I like her heel, has she got athletes foot?.
Carpet? You should have gone to Spec Savers

The first shot was f/7.1, 1/800th sec @ 55mm, not stabilized. While the second shot was f/8 1/400th sec @ 80mm, not stabilized. It could be that the newer lens would perform better at f/8, but I still think the focus is slighty off.

Hi Jukka, the focus seems a little off on 1 & 4, either that or a little movement induced blur.

There's a shop in the Shanghai photographic mall I go to that has a ton of Pentax gear ... they have about 5 x FA*85/1.4 that start at around GBP1,000
There's a few on flea bay from time to time, I keep watching the prices for when I sell mine, not used it in years, currently using DA-70/2.4 and love it

But there's absolutely nothing wrong with the build quality of the FA 50mm.
Absolutely, I have a bag full of FA lenses, never had any problems with them, they're light compact and take regular filters, can be used on film as well as digital, less vignetting than crop sensor lenses and use the sweet spot (the centre of the lens) so resolution is high.
