Award citation of the EISA Jury:
"The Tamron SP70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD is a very compact, comfortable and easy-to-use zoom lens. Its greatest asset is the razor-sharp image quality that makes full-frame photos look like medium-format images. The near-silent autofocus system makes the lens ideal for wildlife as well as street photography"

John, Whitby Goths Festival is a good place to practise people photography. The goths and various variety of punks are up for it. They don't go to enormous expense and care with their make up and fabulous costumes not be to photographed.

Are you sure? The only advantage, assuming you have purchased a cheapy hood off ebay is quickshift.
John has mentioning speed on the K-5 v K20D. It is not relevant to your problem. Unless you have a K20D and will upgrade to the K-5 to get the best out of a new DA 55-300

Sigma DG IS HSM 150 - 500mm gets my vote. At under £600 from various sources, it's a steal.

Other than that DA*300/4 or DA*60-250/4 but they're a little on the heavy side IMHO
I started a poll here with limited response:

We've always had inconsistencies, but prior to being able to view huge magnifications on screen it hasn't really been a problem.
With film the problem was film flatness, but thankfully at least a sensor is almost certain to be at least flat. I hope....
I noticed in the days when I was still using film that Sigma lenses needed slighty greater torque when mounting them on the MX, the lens mount was probably slightly thicker or not made to the tolerance of a genuine Pentax lens, I've not noticed this with later Sigma lenses though.

Your daughter obviously has an eye for composition, colour and texture, a budding talent IMHO
