I would not feel especially comfortable doing that, especially with the flash! He's got a good technique though, get them before they have chance to react

He must be very good at reading people, as it were. Also he evidently moves fairly rapidly in crowded areas which would help. By the time his subjects realise what happened he'll be a good distance away and still moving.

Bit surprised to see him using a handheld light meter - I'd want to keep the amount of extra stuff to a minimum.

I agree, it seems almost intimidating and in your face and I would feel uncomfortable with this style.

Not a fan of the technique or the results TBH.

Results were pretty poor in my humble opinion (although maybe an artefact of youtube compression).

I wonder how long it will be before someone shoots him...

I read an article about this guy a few years ago, he used to wear a dirty old man's raincoat with the flash wire running up one sleeve and down the other, camera in one hand and flash in other, and walk around the city at night. I guess he's getting a bit old for that now. In nearly all his pictures the victim looks a bit startled. Don't think I would be comfortable with his technique, but he's got some good pictures from it.

I did a lot of "in your face shooting" of people at a stock car racing meeting today.

I was very bold and at one tine was shouting "paparazzi!! paparazzi!! paparazzi!! " - peeps thought it was fun

I was the only serious photographer at the event. I wouldn't be so bold in the street though, although I can see this guy has little problem. I'm not keen on some of his shots, but he gets some snaps that you wouldn't get without a bit of cheek, so kudos to him for going for it.

I think it was one of the Capa brothers who said, "If your photos aren't good enough, you're not close enough." So I am usually inadequate. Bother.

I have been out in Chester tonight to try this, and I don’t like it to close to people and they don’t really like it! I think its better in New York as so many people and they don’t really care over there. the UK well says it all they just don’t like that stuff here.

Shaun, I've decided, you're either fearless or completely mad and I'm not sure which
