It is unique as far as I know. I wonder if this will help when moving into really hot places such as a butterfly house?

Let's not get too tetchy....

Pentax cameras do a lot of things that are desirable. best is open to interpretation, but I'd look at low light performance, colour quality, weather resistance, ergonomic design that puts controls conveniently and efficiently, generally relatively compact construction of high quality, genuine glass pentaprism finders, compatibility with older lenses and accessories....and maybe more if I think about it longer.

Others may find some or all of these qualities in other marques, but that's freedom and there's plenty of choice out there.

I doubt very much that any manufacturer would produce a camera road map. New products are kept under wraps until released, not advised in advance.

There are of course exceptions, for example we knew the 645D was on the way a long time before it arrived!

daronl I'm glad you like your D500 and it suits what you want to do. You've posted the same long post twice, so we hear you. However, I've tried a lot of different camera bodies and they all have their own little foibles.

Back to the lens roadmap, I'm looking forward to trying out the new lenses.

Looking back at some older images, there's nothing wrong with the K-5 and indeed nothing wrong with the K20D that came before the K-7. We can deduce that the K-7 is pretty good as well, especially as Nigel keeps telling us it is. I believe him.

If you want a replacement, then the K-3 or K-3II are both a bit faster in operation and have more pixels and there's not really much else on the market in that niche that can do any better. Pentax are continuing to release APS-C lenses, although to be fair there are quite a few to choose from already.

Just thoughts.....

It's a good selection of lenses and the additions will make it stronger. That Fish-eye zoom looks interesting, although as I've now found a 17-28mm F version that's tack sharp I don't need one personally. It's interesting that Pentax have kept such a lens in the range for a very long time now.

That's great, thanks Stuart, it could save somebody being in that frustrating position where something should work but stubbornly doesn't! There's usually a simple reason....

Just in case it helps anyone with a similar problem, how did you solve it Stuart?

Nicely shot and some really good sense in that. Great images as well.
