Again my suggestion Louise is see what the verdict on on your K30, you might be able to get it repaired for free or for a reasonable cost. This would cost less than buying a new camera, you will still have a very capable camera and will mean you will have a decent camera to part exchange when you feel the time has come to upgrade.

Great result. Since getting my K30 repaired it's been back to its excellent self! Shame this problem has marred Pentax and the K30 which apart from that has been a brilliant camera.

Nice shot Vic. That's the beauty of photography, we can put in as much effort or as little effort as we want but still get lots of pleasure from it! Hope your wife is back to 100% very soon!

I see very few Pentax cameras when I'm out and about including in popular areas like Barcelona etc - it does worry me. Most of the DSLRs I see are the usual Nikon/Canon with kit zoom and no lens hood fitted!

However think if I was after something cheap but good I'd look at the Ks1 too, looks to have a few modern features and decent sensor.

I'd hang on a bit Louise and see what Castle Cameras find out. Even if it is the aperture motor failing it could still work out cheaper getting the camera repaired, and mine since being repaired has worked perfectly. Don't forget forum members get a discount from Johnsons Photopia.
