They have the K-S1 for less, which despite the naysayers when it was launched is a great little better specified camera.

What lenses do you have already? Do you really want/need a DSLR?

Looks ok to me, always good to be based in the UK and have contact numbers and a UK address, haven't dealt with them, but I would

Always pay by Credit Card if you are unsure, you do then have a course for redress if anything happens.

I would go for a K-S1 rather than a K500. The K-S1 is a very compact, very light and very good camera.
Best regards, John

The K-500 hasn't been produced or even available for such a long time, I wonder where they got their stock from.

It might be worth searching around for a used Pentax K-5 II at a similar price level. The K-5 series seem to be bomb proof!

Cheers.

Agreed. K-30 > K-5II I'd consider quite an upgrade too.

I have both - they are both great cameras and have points for and against. Results are the same.
However think if I was after something cheap but good I'd look at the Ks1 too, looks to have a few modern features and decent sensor.

1 - Buy via Amazon. Any probs and go back to Amazon and let them deal with it.

2 - Buy from John lewis. they will pricematch Camera Centre as quoted here:
https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/john-lewis-and-the-price-match-55097

If its old stock from "somewhere", think again.

I need a DSLR because I now photograph events, and training excercises of our local search and rescue team.

I have a 18-55m, 55-200m and a 18-250 lens.

I see there's a K-S2 body on ebay with an asking price of £310, but open to offers. link
It looks alright and the vendor seems to have decent feedback. I'm tempted myself but don't need another camera.
But of course you'll need to make up your own mind about buying a used camera unseen

Pentax K-500 Black Digital SLR with 18-55mm DAL Lens

I bought my first K5 from them 3 or 4 years ago when the K5 had just been superceded and the price had dropped like a stone. Camera still going strong, well it should be only 5,700 actuations! They say they have been in business for 45 years and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again if the right deal came along. I've never been there, everything was done "on't'internet" and by phone.

I see SRS are selling KS-2's on their ebay site for £349 new, better value than £310 used. However, I think that when the new K70 hits the shelves the KS-2 will drop even further, £300 or even less?

I agree, and would take that in to consideration if making an offer on a S/H camera. But if the camera is needed now and maybe the OP has set a spending limit then it may still be a viable option
