Worth every penny - it's an excellent flash unit and for £100 it's an absolute steal!

The door is fragile (poor design) but if, like me, you buy it with the awareness of that then you can just make sure you're careful when you're opening and closing it. It's not like you'll be using the door every time you take the flash out and on the occassions you do just treat it with a delicate touch and all will be fine.

The build of the rest of the flash is excellent and the ability to use it wirelessly has opened up new avenues in my photography.

Don't hesitate, just buy it for that sort of money!

I really like the first two - they capture the spirit of the event very well. The third looks just a wee bit wooden (to borrow an acting term) to me - perhaps if the money had been placed in the collection tin with the ends sticking out it wouldn't look quite so staged. But I'm not a photojournalist so what do I know?

Congratulations on your sales!

That should boost the macro-fund by a few quid - you really did get a bargain with that lot...

I like it a lot!

I've had absolutely no inspiration for "shadows" so far and deadline draws close so I'm quite envious - wish I'd thought of Brill! Some really good ones in there this week (not that there isn't always of course).

You do get interesting perspectives from your plane. Could maybe do with a person or vehicle in the shot somewhere to give it a sense of scale, but otherwise very good!

I'm rubbish at critique (so it's lucky I never win the competitions on these boards really) but I do know what I like and I like the poppies. Nice striking colours.

Out of interest, does the Pentax software open files from the Samsung? I'm guessing it does as both cameras produce .dng's but I'm prepared to be wrong on that...

Now that I've got used to it I quite like Pentax Photo Lab for developing my raw files. I don't do very much PP as a rule, and if I do I use my old (V5) Photoshop and export from PPL as .tif's. I've never experienced any of the problems you describe but then I'm running it on a late model (2007) reasonably fast PC so your mileage may vary.

I did use the freebie copy of Capture One that came with my memory card initially, but now I've played with both I prefer the Pentax suite.

If you can get hold of a copy for cheap (or free, even better) then I would recommend trying it - it suits me, it may or may not suit you. :

Welcome!

Asking "stupid" questions is the best way to learn - we've all done it at some time in our lives...

What do you think?
Sounds a good idea to me - if you start a thread in the Local Groups forum we can see how many from 'round these parts are interested in a meet. Could probably widen it so others in the Home Counties / South East could come along too?
