I'm not that worried about SDM, but I would like an AF version of my M200/4.

Nice little lens; pretty sharp wide open, acts like a 300/4 on digital, tiny size (slips in the pocket), great IQ. What's not to like?

Hello Jacqui, welcome to the forum.

Try starting a thread in the General Digital Photography section outlining what you're having problems with, I'm sure there will be plenty of people who've had the same experiences and be willing to offer advice.

My favourite's the colourful fly too - it never ceases to amaze me how pretty some insects can look when you actually study them up close. Superb capture and the blue background really sets it off nicely.

I really like the first shot - great lighting and perfect focus gives it a three dimensional feel. Good photo!

Looks like a half-way house between a spider and a crab - love it!

As Pete says, I think consumers want small and light so the manufacturers tailor their wares accordingly. Also, digital allows people to shoot better quality at what - in the film era - would have been unthinkably high ISO's, which makes the need for ultra-fast glass somewhat less pressing.

Large aperture lenses are still with us though (for those with deep enough pockets), and I think they do offer better value than their "full frame" equivalents. Take the new DA*55/1.4 as an example; this lens is more-or-less a direct (digital) replacement for the FA*85/1.4 yet is rumoured to be retailing for around the £400 mark when it launches - try getting hold of a second-hand FA*85 for double that amount of money!

Overall, I don't think we have too much to complain about...
