For ND filters the screw-in versions work just fine and are more convenient, however, for graduated filters (of any description) the screw-in ones will always restrict you to having the transition right in the middle of the frame. The Cokin system (or similar) will allow you to place the transition at any point in the frame, hence they're generally preferable.

Hi snappychappy, welcome to the forum.

Some great photos on your flckr stream - I especially liked the "flash-in-the-washing-machine", the fruit bowl patterns and the drag racing from York. Good stuff - hope to see more.

Olympus for me. Always had a soft spot for that lovely Zuiko glass.

Not likely to happen though IMHO. Even if Pentax did cease making cameras I've got a good enough kit to last many more years - the K10D is all the camera I need and I'll probably keep using it until it actually falls apart.

Then I'd look at getting another K-mount DSLR as a replacement. Just because Pentax and Samsung are the only companies making them at present doesn't mean that will always be the case - if you look at the world of film you can still buy (brand new) K-mount SLRs from Seagull, Phenix, Zenit and others. As the cost of digital technology (read: sensors) keeps coming down don't be suprised if some (or all) of these companies start making DSLR's instead. Once these Chinese and Russian behemoths are up to speed they'll be outselling (and massively undercutting) Nikon, Canon, Sony, et al just as they did in the film days.

On the subject of the old days; anybody wish to bet against Cosina launching a follow up to the Epson RD1 as an SLR? I'd be willing to wager that'd be a K-mount too. And Ricoh? Not involved with DSLRs at the moment but may feel their hand is forced at some point down the line - another company with a lot of K-mount experience.

All in all, I'm pretty confident that whatever happens in the next few years there will still be new cameras available that will take my lenses regardless of the name on the front of them.

Now how much were those K to EOS adapters on eBay..?

Excellent shot - love the expression on the cat's face! I'm guessing there was glass between the girl and the big cat?

It looks better in the flesh - honest!

They had one down at SRS on the Saturday they threw their K20D launch / hands-on day. I'm not sure if it was theirs or belonged to Pentax as there were people from Pentax UK in the shop that day too. It caught my eye as I wondered what my silver Limiteds would look like on there...

In which case I missed that bit - my bad!

I look forward to seeing some location shots when you get your other flash - it'll be nice to see what it's capable of.

You can get cleaners especially for net curtains at most supermarkets which should do the trick - they're very gentle. Can't remember brand names off hand but if you ask I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.
