Inspired by some of Clarky and 08tiger's recent pics I went wandering round the garden as it was a nice overcast day armed with my pentax 50-1.7 and the 20mm + 36mm extension tubes. below are the results

An annoying blow fly

A colourful little fly

Caterpiller

and finally I plucked up the courage to approach this huntsman

C+Cs welcome

i think they are nice and "personal", i especially love the bottom 3 as the compositions (and collor) are more exciting.
i am inspired by the recent shots myself and are thinking about getting a macro-lens.
i have allways been taken by macroshots and the hidden beauty they reveal.

Excellent shots Paul, the little fly's perfectly focused and the spider too. Caterpillar's perhaps cropped too tight, did the combination of tubes limit your focusing range too much, or did you just want to get in close?

Next thing you'll be wanting is a flash diffuser...

Great shots paul, I really like the huntsman spider.
Are you using the onboard flash

As Dan said you cropped the caterpillar too tight but great colours on him.

Thanks for the comments guys

Dan,
yes I had stacked the 20mm & 36mm tubes to get in close on the catapillers feet and but it meant that I couldn't get the whole thing in the frame. If its still there today I am going to try with the 36mm & 12mm to see if I can fit it all in.

Clarky,
Yes I did use the onboard flash at -0.5 or -1.0

My favourite's the colourful fly too - it never ceases to amaze me how pretty some insects can look when you actually study them up close. Superb capture and the blue background really sets it off nicely.
