I agree, the last picture is a massive improvement over the first ones - really nice shot!

There's no "full frame" DSLR planned officially (but you never know what the future may bring), however, eBay is awash with older "full frame" Pentax cameras that just happen to use film - try one, you might like it!

Number 2 of the gulls does it for me - gorgeous Sonnar-like bokeh and great detail in the whites of the central bird's plumage. I'm starting to really like what I see from this lens.

Hello Lance and welcome to the forum!

It's certainly much more laid back around here than the other two fora you mention but there is a small entry fee; if you send me your FA31, A50/1.2 and DA*60-250 I'll square it with the management...

I'd be absolutely heartbroken (and looking for revenge) if that happened to me. Just goes to show there are some right ****s out there.

Personally I'd rather have a sharp shot that's noisy than a smooth shot that's blurred - it's all a bit of a trade off like most things in photography.

As Scott's shown above you can eliminate the noise in PP easily enough, but if the picture's strong then I never tend to notice noise anyway - I certainly don't find it offensive. It's a personal taste thing I reckon.

Great capture by the way!

Very pretty Aiki, I like that very much! The lighting looks very natural.

Looks like the flowers in your garden are about 6 weeks behind mine - my iris are over now for the year but I've got some nice roses through instead.

The lens is a Cimako, also known as Cimko - both trade names of Cima Kogaku who themselves are a sub-contract lens maker. You'll find identical lenses to this sold under several brands including Focal, Quantary, Photax, RE Topcor and Prinz (the red diamond is the tell-tale trademark).

Cima Kogaku are/were probably one of the better third-party manufacturers so you should get fairly good results on your Spotty!
