Horrible story.

I'd be absolutely heartbroken (and looking for revenge) if that happened to me. Just goes to show there are some right ****s out there.

That really is scary if it is true :
I can't help thinking there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Surely Paypal would not have refunded without inspecting it first, they must have found something in the investigation that favoured the buyer. :

Just goes to show what a FARCE ebay and Paypal really is, "were not bothered about your petty squabbles, we just got our fees and were happy"

Thats a bit harsh I have done quite well out of e-bay in the few years I have been using them, I have had couple of issues over that time and always found them to be professional and fair in thier dealings.

I believe it is never going to be 100% infalliable, but you accept that element of risk when you sign up to use them.

I recently had funds frozen in my Paypal account from a Chinese buyer who won my auction and immediately sent me a message asking for a $50 discount I refused, he paid the full amount and I sent him the lens, when he recieved it he put in a claim to Paypal saying the lens had water in it and he wanted a $50 discount to cover the damage.
My dealings with E-bay and Paypal were very good and professional, and it was eventually found in my favour, as I knew it would.

I believe if you are honest and fair then you have nothing to worry about.
There will always be the scammers and idiots to deal with, but thats human nature and in 99.9% of these cases you will be treated fairly.

Paypal do nothing, I had a mobile returned once after the buyer started a dispute (because he changed his mind) and after a lot of hassle with Paypal they told him to return it. Once he did that they contacted me to make sure it was back to which I replied yes but he had not included the original manual, battery or case. They refunded him and told me to contact the police

paypal is buyer protection and not seller protection, i sold a pioneer cd player to a bloke in perfect working order, he told me had one already that was faulty, and needed one urgent to replace his in his pub(hence why he did a buy it now), supprise supprise i got it back and the laser was not working, who did paypal protect (not me)so i ended up with a duff player,

This is why I stopped selling on e-bay because of this type of scam, you can lose money hand over fist if your not careful.

I'm sorry, but if that happened to me, with a lens I sold for $4000. I think I would be paying the buyer a visit with some, ahem, large friends.

Sadly he won't do too good this time he's put f2.8 instead
of f/2.8..... so it will be missed on searches.

I never put the / when I advertise a lens on Ebay and I dont have a problem selling my stuff.

It only effects searches for that exact aperture, but I would imagine that a lot of people have saved exact searches for rarer lenses.

We've just seen a Sigma 170-500mm sold with very few bidders for £255 because the person advertised it as 170-500 mm

And a Macro lens go for £26 because he left the word Macro off the
heading
