Just had a look on the Argos site, Samsung 18-55 reduced to £391.59. Only paid that for the GX10 kit with 2 lenses, although the image does show the 100mm macro.
That explains the apperture ring, I was wondering whatthe lens pictured was.

Still won't be buying one though.

How's about some built in memory, say 8GB? Cheap as chips these days.
Why stop at 8Gb, go for a full 1TB.
No need to loose or forget cards then!

A built in sprit level would be nice as well

Sounds like you have with your grip,
suggest trying NEW batteries then if that doesn't work, returning your grip for replacement first.
If that doesn't solve the problem then contact Pentax re your body

At least it wasn't 'sniped' by a dealer at a bargain price.

No problem with my grip, batteries seem to last for ages.

Have you got the grip set as primary power source?

I haven't, the camera uses which ever set has the best power output (Auto select) which could be why.

Argh! it sounds like the lens has fungus!

DON'T put it in a case or bag with any other lenses, there's a chance it could 'infect' them.

see this, this and this for more help.

You mention that your first camera has a SMC 50mm 1.7 lens.

If the focus is smooth and glass clean this is a superb lens to start with.

You don't say if it;s an A or M lens, if it's an A you could sell on ebay and finance several other lenses, the SMC-A 50mm 1.7 seems to sell on ebay for around £30.

Anyhow enjoy your new body, if it works. If not the first thing to try is a set of new batteies and as Womble says, the shutter should fire without batteries at 125X setting.

Finally there's a manual here
