1: Is the firmware up to date?

2: Does this happen in any condition?

Firm ware update for the first problem here

If the answer to 2 is yes then get back to the dealer and get it sorted under warranty.

Get the warranty done first, just to be safe.

It's not the IQ with this lens Clarky, it's the fact that(as far as I know)it's the only lens that will auto focus on a ME-F body!

As for the price, the last one I saw was on the US ebay and went well above £100...

Just a thought.

Try running a Film through the camera and looking at the results.

Modern ISO400 film isn't too fussy if the metering is slightly out, and if you can live with it it'll save you £50+.

Don't get too excited about the 'rare' 40mm.

I had one, the image quality was variable so I sold it.

I'm sticking with the f1.7 50s I have. They may be a bit bigger but they produce better results.

It seems that a lot of 40s have lived hard lives and suffer from some form of degradation.

With respect dangermouse, MOST M series can be got for less than £30.

The ME Super is an exception. Dead ones still fetch stupid money IMO, and a worker with 50mm lens anything up to £80!

Still, without ebay where would we get such bargains?

My camera collection is on line here, if your interested in my thoughts on using any of the M series bodies.
