I have recently added M.4/3 gear to complement my D-SLR kit and I am very pleased I have.
Travelling very light with three lenses (20mm, 14-42 & 40-150) and a body that you can only dream of with D-SLR kit is quite liberating.
Also you don't have to contend with that in your face feeling that sometimes carrying larger kit gives.
And finally when it comes to image quality I really think you would be very very hard pressed to tell the difference.

It's shame Pentax seem to have tripped on their boot laces with the K-5 in this way.
There is no getting away from the fact that this sort of blunder does detract from an otherwise excellent body and begins to sow seeds of doubt even in loyal followers, a shame.
I suspect that manufacturing pressures lead to slips in the QA with pressure from Pentax decision makers,
keen to get their latest (and lets face it greatest) body into retail outlets in time for the pre Christmas bonanza.
There is no getting away from the fact that this sort of blunder does detract from an otherwise excellent body and begins to sow seeds of doubt even in loyal followers, a shame.

Interesting link Gary, looking at the comparisons I would have thought RAW processed by identical workflow would have been used for a closer to level playing field comparison.Aplogies if this has been linked before.

However I do think the lens choice is relevant, both are good quality primes, are well respected for their optical quality and therefore to me it gives more of 'realworld' comparison.
I suspect the difference is more down to the Jpeg engine in both cameras than lens quality per-say. With RAW output I'm sure the Pentax would have the potential to draw level or even nudge ahead
(low pass filter influence aside).

I certainly found the K-7 to be no worse for high ISO noise than the K20D and in general use it was a much more reactive 'snappy' body for want of a better description.
Still a worth while improvement on the K20D in my book.

Nice work as usual Andrew, I agree with Jon in that the two Rough Tor shots stand out, particularly the first one for me with that interesting lead in.
Did I spot a little bit of PP applied graduation in the sky of one or two?

Numbers 1, 3 and 6 for me Mike, nice work, not too overdone and with a decent amount of contrast which some more conservative HDRs can tend to lack.

From my experience with the K-7 in camera noise reduction made no difference to the RAW file, it only affected the Jpeg output.
I mainly shot RAW processed and with CaptureOne Pro.

The advantage of an EVF is that you can accurately judge the exposure in real time and to a degree the white balance. Another big plus is accuracy while manually focussing, quickly zoom the area of interest and nail the focus, easy.
