This business of trying to complete the list of lenses I want has resulted in a cupboard full of duplicate and unwanted lenses and bodies. What I've found is that if I make a fair offer for the lens I want most sellers just throw in the whole kit they are selling, people have no interest in old film cameras.

Last (famous last words) lens I want is a 500mm f4.5

60 deg , I've been hot but never that hot. I agree with you that if I leave it in the sun there is a good chance that it will overheat, I had planned for a type of shelter or under a tree.

Hi,

I want to set-up my camera and pre-focus it on a birds nest and take the shots using my "YongNuo RF-602 wireless trigger" when the birds return to the nest. I'll be using a separate battery pack to power the camera as it may take a hour or so before an opportunity presents it's self.

I have changed the "Set-up Menu" to "Auto Power - Off"

My concern is whether or not the sensor or camera will overheat by being left on for hours at a time, waiting to be triggered.

Has anyone experienced any problems by leaving the camera on for so long?

Hi,

Thanks, Well ,this was my first spur of the moment entry in a competition and it was an interesting learning experience in that I started looking at the submissions from the judges point of view and came to the conclusion that I would hate to be the judge and more so after seeing your analysis of each photo, which I agree with.

I will be entering more of the competitions as it forces me to think carefully about the picture, but I hope I never win, I will go into a panic at the thought of having to interpret the entries to the depth which you and past judges have done.

Thanks
Greg

Another alternative to a Ball Head

When I was shopping for a ball head one of our local shops suggested that I try the Manfrotto 701RC2 Fluid Head. I was sold, it is as smooth as silk and spring loaded so that there is no danger of my long lenses suddenly tilting if I do not pay attention. I have removed the handle and can pan and tilt, holding the camera body, very smoothly with my long lenses attached.

Gregmoll - That looks like a safari snorkel but the top filter doesn't look standard? Nice rock sliders, is that an ARB front bull bar :

Short and sweet reply before I get kicked off this list
No, not standard but a cyclonic for dust and the bull bar and sliders were made by a friend.

As I was part of a group I did not want to hold up the whole party so only checked that the oil filter bypass had not clogged up. Left the car for the AA to collect and hitched my trailer to a friends Defender and had a good weekend, took some nice pics of Rhino and other game and birds.

Hi, Thank goodness it's a V8 so very tolerant of abuse, I could not find the problem so had the car brought home and will strip it this weekend.
