Not really a direct answer to the question, but I found that the GPS unit puts the data in a non-standard place in the exif data. I found that opening photos in photoshop elements, they couldn't be placed on the map view, and the files had to be parsed to move the data. I'm sure I found a "how to" on the web somewhere, which covered getting the GPS data in the right exif field.

I would hope that pentax software could read the data from a pentax product though.

My opinion might be an unpopular one, but I don't believe holding a camera abstracts you from social responsibility.
If you choose to put yourself into these situations, then you have to deal with the consequences of your actions.
In a lot of cases reportage photographers have used their images to heighten awareness of issues. If that were me, I might be able to reconcile the suffering I saw with the subsequent help from aid, charity, or general awareness, which resulted from my efforts.

I have little sympathy for commercial photographers who seek out suffering for personal financial gain. Paparazzi, anyone?

All look nice and sharp. One issue I can see is that everything is very back lit - that's always likely to happen in the tank. If you can get the fish when they're further away, that would help with some front lighting. Alternatively you could try lighting from the side with a torch, that should throw light on the subject, without causing reflections on the glass or blinding the fish with flash.

I think you're probably right. The extra calibration was also needed if you wanted to use the long exposure functionality.

I've got one. It hasn't been on the camera since the day I bought it though. Part of that is my laziness and the lack of opportunity for night photography. Main issue was the long, and cumbersome, calibration. Every time you switch it on, in a new location, you have to spin it around for about 5 minutes before you can use it. I think there's a big risk of dropping the whole thing on the floor while you're spinning it around as well.

Yep, I have an iPad, and don't want iTunes cluttering up my pc. Doesn't work very well, and breaks all the file associations.
Anyway, I bought the camera interface. For about 25 quid you can then plug in an sd card directly, or the camera itself through a USB cable.
The frustrating thing is that it's all or nothing, picking the specific pictures you want to copy to the iPad is painful. Like most things apple, it's good if you want to do exactly what apple intended you to do, a pain in the bum if you don't.

I fell into the category of needing to add my bank details, so I stopped using eBay. I've got not intention of giving a commercial etailer direct access to my bank account. Apart from the obvious risk of any security breach, you lose the various purchase benefits associated with the card like insurance and extended guarantees etc..

Got one, but not had a chance to use it yet.
It's quite small which is good. Doesn't come with a case or anything, which is a bit annoying - I'm worried about the hotshoe connections getting damaged over time.
It syncs pretty quickly, but that's the only chance I've had to use it. Will be using it to take some night shots in a couple of weeks so I should have some shots to post soon.

If you are going to take it into the sea you absolutely _have_ to wash it off in fresh water as soon as possible afterwards. Seawater will eat through those seals in a few weeks.
