No tripod Mike, I had about 1/2 an hour to wait for the ferry home, so just went walkabout round the harbour.

I think the Pentax 17-70mm is a fantastic lens

I had been on Orkney for about 8 days, and every day was stormy.

I was getting the ferry home and spotted this image.

In colour, the sky, water and the houses all seem apart.

I thought if I convert to B&W, and darken the sky and water, there would be a relationship between all elements ?

Too much black, or just about right ?

davidtrout,

I can't 'hand-hold' a 200mm, so I'd need 20 slaves and some scaffold

( plus Mike-P's cash of course )

I have seen the 17-28 go for almost £400, so the price seems ok if it is in good nick.

I loved the fish-eye effect and the ultrawide angle, but it's not to everyones taste.

You would need to make sure that's what you wanted

What about the 17-28mm Pentax zoom. Used to use that on my Z-1.
It was a fish-eye at the 17mm end.

Unfortunately, not a fish-eye on digital

edit - still have it and still use it on the K10D

I have had the 24mm lens since new in the early 80's, bought it to go with the ME.

Optically still excellent. Aperture action is as it should be, positive and 'snappy'. The focusing action is firm, compared to my other Pentax manual lenses, it was like this from new and I have just got used to it.

The glass is clear and bright, no scratches or fungus.

I also have the original case.

I know these 24mm's can go for silly prices, but I would be prepared to let you have a go with it and see how you feel about the firm focus, and we could come to an arrangement on the price.

PM me if you are interested.

The ME and winder could go too, if anyone is interested.

( Photo's with the K10D and the Pentax K - 50mm - f1:1.2 - wide open )
