There's quite a difference in price though. The Pentax one comes up at around 350 pounds used if I remember correctly?

It is a shame to spoil the IQ of the DA 300 using a bad TC though, I agree.
I have the DA*300 + AFA x1.7 combination and they well very well together, however as Dr O said the AFA is so versatile that you can use it with many other lenses, including MF only lenses to add 'semi-AF'.

The AFA does not cost GBP350 .. is it around US$350 (GBP200+) and can be bought new from Japan by intermediaries (I forget how much they charge for the service and shipping - around GBP30-40 I think it is) then shipped to you.

I also have the Tamron Pz-AF MC4 x1.4 TC which gives sharp shots (AFA x1.7 level) with the DA*300 and is an AF TC but it does hunt a lot and I'd not recommend it for birding, the AFA is a better TC in this regard and gives you a little more reach of course.

OMG I completely forgot I still have this in the UK awaiting a buyer until I saw another thread on here a couple of days ago, and again just now ! Come on, lovely little lens let's see an offer close to the asking price above ! How about £47 all inclusive.

Don't really understand this Dave. I post on FOUR Pentax forums and two none-brand specific forums, some more than others (as some are more active than others) but I check them all regularly for interesting threads or threads where I may be able to offer what I consider to be a valid opinion.

There's nothing wrong with being a member of more than one social club, they are not exclusive. Why not just cherry-pick the threads you like as there will always be some !

Coincidence. I was looking at some pristine sets of these tiny cameras and lenses just a few days ago and wondering what sort of IQ output they possess. They look gorgeous. No problem with sourcing film here .... there's one stockist that stocks nothing but film from top to bottom !
Do they have a website and can you post a link?
Sorry Ken - I have no idea. This is in Shanghai so even if they did it'll all be in Chinese If you let me know what you are looking for next time I'm there I'll check it out and see what they are asking per roll.

Ah yes lads, my bad re. CZ 28/2.8. I seem to have got over-excited when I saw that listed without considering the RF factor !

I haven't heard good things about those variable faders Graham .. what is your experience after having tried other fixed stop filters ?

Dinneen : I have just bought a cheap Chinese ND400 filter and holder to try out before I splash out the bigger bucks for a Hoya or Lee. The Tian Ya ND400, Holder and two different adapters (49mm & 55mm) cost me around £30- 35.

What a fun set - love them. I have just bought a cheap Chinese ND400 (10 stop) to try out and see if I enjoy playing with these before I splash out on the Hoya ND400 or maybe a Lee if I like the holder and slot-in type more than screw-ins.

Carl Zeis 1:2.8 28mm : this is a wonderful lens if it's the Contax Zeiss ? I have one and there a comparison on another forum between this and the Pentax 31 Ltd. the CZ compares very favourably. The 28/2 is even better (but much much more expensive) !

SMC Takumar 1:1.4 50mm, Pentacon Auto 1.8 50mm, Ashai Takumar 1:2.8/105mm, Ashai SMC Takumar 1:3.5/135mm : more very good lenses !
