On a more focussed note, do all these packages cater well for Pentax DSLR users, or are some better than others? Should Pentax DSLR users be avoiding a particular package
because of the paucity of support?
I don't know if any of them carry lens profiles for Pentax lenses .. some of them yes, but not the full range. Others using LR3 end PSE could tell you more. So that's maybe worth looking out for but it's certainly not a deal killer

These are great - especially #1 & #2 which shows excellent subject isolation (due to the fill flash no doubt) ?

She does look like Debbie Harry (at least in #2, but Debbie had those gorgeous pouty lips) - I remember being stage-side, just 6' from Debbie fronting Blondie at the Deeside Leisure Centre way back when (does it even still exist - it was a skating rink in those days) ! Great gig !

There is a guy who comes on one of the Pentax forums (at Steve's Digicams I think) who has his own one shot HDR program which does an excellent job and allows a degree of customisation. It's free but for PC only.

HDRtist for the MAC is good and free. There are other free programs too (for both Mac and PC).

Photomatix and the one I use (MAC only), Dynamic Photo (best alignment I could find) , are paid for programs but definitely worth the cash.

What a lovely intro. Nice story and I hope it has a happy ending ... I'm confident it will as the K5 is a superb camera !

Of course you do know that a simple mount change and you can use Leica R lenses on the K5 ? I've had that done to a VL50, a CZ 28 and a CZ 85 so far an love them to death !

Well you can do your own EBay search but I've used Yongnuo (the same people that make those excellent manual flashes) for more than a year now .... without even a hint of a glitch. For what they cost (can't remember exactly but very little) buy two sets and you're covered !

I agree with him - I think you need to restrict your photography to one subject, birds, and it's best to just concentrate on one species, Ducks, in fact I believe you would be better concerning yourself with only one particular duck, The Mallard, and to become really really good I'd suggest confining yourself to only adult drakes.

There, I've said my piece and feel much better now, I hope you take heed of my expert advice and I no longer have to go to your site and see such diversity.

Wireless works great with my Metz 50 (basically the same as the 48 ). I use a cheap Chinese transmitter & receiver.

Now all I need to do is learn how to work the K-r 'thingy'. Does anyone know how to ....... Kind regards. Gedski.
By far the best thing you can do to learn how to operate your wonderful Kr to the max is to read the manual, over and over and over (highlighting those passages of greatest importance/interest). And spend too much time on forums like this one !

Welcome to Pentax and Pentax User Ged. !
