If absolute focusing speed and FPS is not your requirement (think birds, racing cars etc) then the Pentax system may be better for you anyway.

I'm not sure what it is but it sounds like a good idea. Presumably if they can add it to the Q then they can add it to the K5?

Great news! Pentax have released v1.10 firmware for the Q.
It adds a Focus Peaking option, as well as manual input of the focal length for SR.
Works a treat and focus peaking really does enable ultra fine focus adjustments. Totally marvellous

We also had one around here recently (not the same but still a mannikin)
Can't post it here because it wasn't taken with a Pentax but here is a link to the Scaly Breasted Munia/Mannikin (Nutmeg Finch) :

2. No - there are many aspects to photography and one of them is art. No-one questions an artist as to whether his creation is 'natural' or not !

16 years is a long time to have had her so the loss will be acute. The pain will pass, your memories of her never will.

This underscores the importance (for me) of ALWAYS keeping a filter and cap on your lens EVERY SECOND the camera is not in use. It's a no-brainer.
There are pros and cons to with/without and this is an old debate that will never be settled. Each person should evaluate the options and choose a way that suits them. Personally I will never keep a filter on any of my lenses unless being used in a very windy/dusty/sandy/salty environment.
