Last week I had to drive the family the near 600kms to Wenzhou (from Shanghai). The drive itself was pleasant enough and took us through some nice scenery (Shanghai is very very flat) across the longest bridge in the world (42kms/26.4 mls) and then up through the mountain ranges to Wenzhou (I've done this trip by coach ... 25 years ago ... when there were few roads and it was 18 hours of torture, and also by boat .. which no longer runs .. and took 24 hours).

My wife had business to attend to so I took our adult children up into some of the mountains around the city for the views and to see some ancient villages. The weather was pretty lousy, very overcast and occasional downpours, but it was interesting none-the-less.

Anyway if you enjoy these then there are more here : http://frogfish.smugmug.com/Other/Wenzhou-Zhejiang/18324886_8xRQ82#1410979676_76FjMmM

Hope you enjoy looking at these !

The difference between the K7 & K5 was like night & day for me. Not only the low noise high ISO (the K7 is just tragic in comparison, I'd rarely go over 400 with 800 usually tops), and not only the expanded DR or the incremental changes in a number of other areas but the fact that in essence it has made all my lenses faster by being able to use those higher ISOs I'd never dream of using before. If you only have a couple of lenses then maybe more glass is attractive however if you have a few then you'll find more advantages to buying the K5.

I used to go out shooting with both the K5 and K7 side by side but I became so frustrated with the K7's high noise (yes, yes I know there are ways to get around it in a fashion, but not in all situations) that I sold it.

Yep agreed - great set of images !

Only C&C : IMO I'd have liked just a tad more space in a few of them though, cropping looks a little tight sometimes.

Thinking about making an offer on this and selling my F* 300mm f4.5.

Can't decide if it's worth the extra.
If it's for birding then the DA* is a lot quieter and I've been in situations where I know the FA*300 I looked at would have been too noisy and the bird flown - if the F* is as noisy then it's worth considering the DA*. I found the DA* a tad sharper but the AF on the FA a tad faster, though not much in it at all.

Welcome.

I also have a K-7 .. although in approx 15 mins it will be in the post to it's new owner.
Ha ha sold mine last week for 450 notes. Now I'm feeling a bit exposed with only the K5 and no back up (no I lie, I do believe I have an ME Super downstairs somewhere) !

And welcome Neil - fine camera you have there !

We should go back to carrying our gold pieces in our pants. In fact I have a rather nice kangaroo scrotum money bag which I may start using.
This.

Well except for the bit about the kangaroo scrotum money bag ...... and I would have had one of those too but the bounder conned me out of my money and hopped it !

Both lenses you mention are fine lenses in my view... However i think it's also worth considering the sigma 30mm f1.4. It's a great lens and many folk on here use it for portraits to great effect. Good for low light with its wide aperture. Although that is less of an issue if you were going to use a flash. I would have thought you should be able to pick one up for your budget.

Just a thought

+ 1 for the Sigma 30/1.4 - it's a very sharp lense so not a problem cropping anything and that 1.4 gives sweet portraits (just softens up a tad). Absolutely perfect for low light, singles, couples, triples !

#1 would be a 43 Ltd or 31 Ltd but they are just a little beyond the budget

I assume you are only interested in AF ?

Prieni. I'm not quite sure what you are showing us here. There is no way in the world that you could not get the jpgs to look more like the RAW versions. There will of course be a wider DR in the RAWs but nothing like those you have indicated above.

It almost looks like you've fully processed the RAW versions to achieve something close to what your eyes perceived - but done almost nothing to the jpgs ?

I shoot jpgs most of the time but switch to RAW when I'm aware there may be issues and I want the security of the recoverability of RAW.
