No point in asking permission to take liberties because I already have! (Ask forgiveness afterwards - it's easier).

Father Ted: please forgive me for making a tutorial out of your lovely images. As I said, someone else did it with mine and it transformed how I worked so I hope the same will happen as a result of this.
No need for permission, or forgiveness. I'm here to learn
Thanks both for the tips.

I like your sharpened image. I am currently getting used to Lightroom, but I've downloaded FastStone today.
I feel I am having focus issues with my Tamron 70 - 300 on my K3, not an issue I ever noticed on the K10d, so I will be looking into this when my new tripod mounting plate arrives.
I'll definitely go back (it's only 15mins away) and try again....

Took my camera for a walk this morning. Grey overcast sky, so no lovely autumn colours, but hey....I remember someone saying that is ideal for close ups.

A few landscapes I've taken. I really do want to do more of this, but, if I'm honest, I'm not patient enough to wait for the light.
You might recognise one of the locations. I hadn't realised that the "Lonely Tree" was quite famous and there can often be a queue to photograph it until someone asked me how long I had to wait: I hadn't, there was no one there.

As with David, 2 & 4 really appeal to me and for entirely different reasons.
I love the lines and regular shapes in 2, set against the curves.
But there is something about the randomness in 4 which makes me want to look for the regularity which I know isn't there.

It's been a long time since I posted any photos on here, so I thought I would put up some examples of what I've been up to in recent years.

Some motorsport. I look on these as easy targets as they don't take much "artistic thought" (although, getting the technical bits right can be a challenge!).
Most taken with my K10d except two aircraft shots taken with the K3II

Some aircraft, Like with the motorsport, the technicalities can be "fun" but the subject does present itself somewhat.

Hi All.
It's been a few years since I came on here (probably best part of 10 years! wow!).
Had a change of job and don't seem to have had much time. However, I'm trying to find my mojo again so thought I'd try the weekly competitions again. I learnt so much from you lot and by taking part in the competitions, so I hope to resume my journey.
I've just upgraded my old K10d (which I still use) to a K3 II, which I'm getting to grips with.

First question: What sharing platform are folks using these days? I used to use Photobucket before they started charging.

The buzzard is more common than kite by us, which I'm glad of as it is one of my favourite birds.
Stunning shot to get the pluamge against the sky, I usually end up with sillouettes.

Thanks guys!!
I knew you'd come up trumps.

Hi All.
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I heard a quote a few years back which stuck with me, but I can't remember who said it. I think it was Ansel Adams.
My daughter wants to use it in an essay, but needs to reference it.
The quote is (something like):
"All of these places mean something: It is the photographer's job to find out what".

A Google search hasn't turned it up. I know I haven't made it up.
Has anyone heard this?

Thanks.

Got to agree with Dariusz.
Let there be light keeps bringing me back. I love that one, but I'd have probably walked on by....
