Thanks all.
I'm seriously out of practice, but determined to get out more this year.
That's my 4th attempt at the staircase, I'm glad I kept persevering.

Whilst late night shopping in Liverpool, I decided I had to return with my camera. I do like this city at night.

C&C welcome

Bold Street

Wood St
(I saw this when returning to the car and immediately "saw it" as mono).

Liverpool 1 Staircase.
I've tried to capture this before, but I'm much happier with this attempt.

I agree.
That's as good as I've taken with my telescope, it just needs the noise cleaning up.
Really nice.

Lovely set. Isn't music great for kids?
It is a shame that all people think when they see a camera is "child abuse".
So many memories to be lost.

I particularly like the last one.

Thanks guys.
You all pretty much come down on the same side as me. (Which is a relief)
I didn't make a fuss at the venue, I didn't even take my camera in as I had been told that there was a no photography rule.
But, my camera was left in the car and as they announced that it was no FLASH photography I went and asked clarification.
That's when I was told that it was illegal.

I have no objection to obeying a venue's rules, even if I think they are daft. But I do object to a venue trying to "scare" people into obeying by claiming that something is illegal when it patently is not.

Anyhow: I didn't let it spoil the night and I'm sure I'll have plenty more opportunities to photograph them performing as they seem to be growing quite successful!

One I can answer is AndrewK.
Yes, I know where these rights come from. The British constitution.
Apparently, as we don't have a written constitution (unlike America et al), then we have the right to do what we want, provided that it is not legislated against. In countries with a written constitution, they have to try to write down everything which is permissible.

So it is actually illegal to photograph a child in a public place? This wasn't a school concert it was at a theater.
No, I didn't sign any disclaimers, but I'm not overly bothered by that. Let's face it: If I didn't want people to see my kids, I wouldn't let them join a band and perform on stage.

I'm not even bothered too much by the fact that I couldn't take photos. Their building their rules.
But is it really against the law? Surely, if it were against the law, then the pros wouldn't be allowed to either.

I'll start by saying that I don't believe it is.

My son performed in a youth concert at a local theatre tonight.
Now, I know, their premises, their rules and I'm perfectly willing to accept that, but I don't like being lied to.

I was told that I could not photograph him as it was "Illegal". Not, company policy, not policy of the event organiser, but, no, it was against the law.

Before the event started, they announced "No video or flash photography. So, I approached a member of staff to clarify if it was flash which was banned, as stated. Again, I was told that photographing was illegal as there were children performing.
It was noticeable, though, that they had an outside company videoing and photographing the children. Presumably the police will seize the footage as evidence? Sorry....being flippant!

Just brilliant!
My wife is looking at me askance, wondering why I'm chuckling!

Thanks guys.
Number 2 was an afterthought as I wasn't convinced about the reflections, so I just zoomed in a tad.
I'm definitely going to revisit this as the evening grow lighter. Maybe get a deep blue sky instead.
