Well, not the real one. There was an art installation at the Albert Dock in Liverpool for the past week and I managed to get over last night.
Had to be hand-held, too many people around to set my tripod up.
Along with shots with ground features as back drop, I also pointed the camera straight at the display for some abstracts.

I made a comment in one of my posts that I'm still trying to do this place "justice".
The kind responses I got and the rare event of snow in Birkenhead inspired me to go out and try again.
I'd be interested in comments regarding the use of mono or not, so I have included the colour version and the mono, I've always "seen" this place in black and white. (Sometimes mono feels like cheating to make a failed image look "arty").

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I tried to photograph this nebula years ago and came up with ... a smudge...

Ted.... next time video it. That's how they do it. Capture a couple minutes, then use PIPP and AutoStakkert. There are plenty of tutorials on gloo toob!
High praise indeed!
And thanks for the advice. I'll look into that.

Haven't had my telescope out for ages and haven't hung a camera on it for even longer (possibly 10 years!).
However, I thought I'd have an experiment last night as the sky was clear. I have an old K10d which has a faulty aperture mechanis, so I thought this would be ideal to hang on the scope as I don't need the aperture. I also played with the K3, both on a tripod and on the scope.
I took about 30 photos, and had 3 useable. I had massive difficulty in focusing. I'll need to experiment some more with this.
Here are my useable shots. The planet shots are heavily cropped.
These are from the K3II.

And Port Sunlight is yet another fascinating place with oodles of photographic potential but then you doubtless already know that.
Yeah. I did consider going there too. I'm about equi-distant between the two.

Good stuff, making the point that photography is all about the quality of the light.
Thanks John.
But is it the quality of the light or being able to make use of the light regardless of quality?
(I'll have to let more knowledgable people answer that )

Hamilton Square is part of the original Birkenhead and is all Victorian buildings with a couple of memorials monuments. There is definitely something here, but I've not been able to fully do it justice yet. It seems to suit wet, dark conditions (or is that just me?).
So, seeing at is is so foggy here the past few days, I thought I'd have another go at it. (Mono was my choice before I set out. I thought it would work better in low light and foggy conditions.)
C&C always welcome.

I was driving to Betws y Coed and literally had to swerve into a layby as I saw this lake.
For once I had a camera with me (I'm usually at work when I see things like this).
Hope I've done it justice.
C&C welcome.

Had a few days in Snowdonia so went for a walk up to the old quarry at Dinorwic.
Will have to return, there is lots to see in this place, I hardly scratched the surface.
Light could have been better, grey overcast skies every day, but hey-ho, can't control the weather.

Here are some of my shots. C&C welcome, as always.

OK. As promised, I returned today with a tripod.
Trying to take on board the tips, I had another go. Some of the fungi had deteriorated since last week, but this goes well, with the autumn feel (I feel).
