Just tried it out of interest with k-x , shooting JPEG, recently formatted in camera Class 6 card from:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00462RBJ6/ref=asc_df_B00462RBJ62575875?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B00462RBJ6

Just keeps going at roughly advertised rate i.e. got 12 shots in a rough count 3 seconds before I released the 'trigger'.

So, I would say from my experience that the Class 6 factor is not an issue, although that does not discount other issues with you particular card.

But then if it isn't getting 'past the buffer' it can't be a card issue as above.

We are selling the lenses that have now been effectively replaced by something else to put £ towards the recent purchase of a second hand DA 100 2.8.

I have reseached prices & they will go on e-bay as Buy It Now items once I have photos etc. sorted and will then provide a link to that but thought I'd give people here first shout These are:

Kit 18-55 Mark1 (not DA-L) purchased with K10D c. Easter 2007 and moderate use since, always well packed etc. Optically perfect as far as we can tell and body looks 'as new' to me. Comes with both ends capped, box and lens hood. £20 + £3.50 P&P

Samsung 50-200 As most of you know the same as the Pentax but with a blue stripe instead of green. Purchased from Jacobs around 2008 moderate use since always well packed etc. Optically perfect as far as we can tell and body looks 'as new' to me. Comes with both ends capped, box and lens hood. £65 + £3.50 P&P

Pentax M 50 f1.7 Our first move away from the kit lenses was bought from e-bay, it was a revaltion in terms of sharpness and depth of field but not really been used since I got the FA35. As far as we can tell optically perfect and functionaly fine, although cosmeticaly there is a bit of it's age showing. Comes with both ends capped. £26 + £3 P&P

Sirius 28 F2.8 Macro A remnant from hubby's film days, this is in lovely condition but I am still researching value etc. but in other mounts it sells on e-bay for £25 +P&P. Any offers or ideas on what it is worth on Pentax mount? As far as we can tell optically perfect and functionaly fine, cosmeticaly in great condition fof it's age can't see a mark on it. Comes with both ends capped. £ Offers + £3 P&P

P&P's quoted are second class recorded upgrades to first class or Special Delivery at approximate cost. Local pick up fine from here in North Devon.

I agree that adverts without prices in £ and delivery to UK in £ are a bit useless on this forum.

The question is do we make rules about it, or do we leave it to 'the market' i.e. us where such an advert is likely to get little response.

On matters like this I am usually on the side of 'letting the market sort it out' unless we got swamped with such items, but this does seem pretty fundamental.

Maybe a moderator or someone could tell us , if we put this in the guidelines and an ad was posted without UK prices / postage, what would happen? Would it be removed or would the poster be advised to change it?

I have thad the FA35 / f2 for years and I love it , it is our most used lens and I can't belive how sharp it is & how much cropping I can do on what it has taken.

vs 16-45 - clearly the 35 can never give you the wider shots so if those are important to you I guess the zoom wins. But 35 - 45 I believe the FA / DA 35 with a little cropping would be the best option.

Personally. money allowing I would go for the FA35 and either the 12-24 or 10-20 ( I don't know which)

Ultimately, if you want ultimate sharpness (which your first post seems to say you do) get primes.

We have both PSP 11 and PSE 9 and have to say we think it's 'horses for courses'

We find PSP easier to use and more iniuitive but it does crash on occasion. It also seems better if you want to do 'graphics' enhancements e.g. drawing a proposed conservatory onto a pic of the back our house for a Planning application.

We only got PSE9 when it was v cheap on Amazon, otherwise would have stayed with just PSP.

Some of the tools are great but find it difficult to get into it's 'mindset' and can't find things easily. Find the split & interactions between Organiser parts and Edit parts annoying. But, there is almost unlimited help available online to get us there and once we have used it more got used to it I'm sure it will be great.

It's just if you want to do something you tend to reach for the tool that you know you can do it with in 5 min. rather than the one where you will need to spend 30 mins finding out what to do before you do it

Perhaps 'Richard' could give us an idea on budget before we go on?

I took it from his initial post that funds were tight and so a Bigma (even secondhand) was out of the question.

If there are more funds available than the c. £100 - £200 I was imagining clearly recommendations would be diffeent.

As someone who has both the 18-250 and the 55-300 I have to say on your trip I would take the kit lens + 55-300 if I could find the room.

Whilst the 18-250 is remarkable quality for the range it gives , I think that -

- the extra 50mm - between 250 and 300 will be important in getting decent shots of wildlife at a distance

- the quality at this 'long end' of the 55-300 is better.

I suspect that those who can afford it (not me!) would take a Sigma something to 500 on such a trip so the longer you can get the better.

Hi, at the risk of showing utter stupidity - what does this do? I have seen the phrase used but never understood exactly what it does, why I should want one.

Given that it's only £20, I might be tempted if I knew what I could do with it

Well I would have if I'd known about it.

The media made a big fuss about it last year but with more pressing (but not necessarily important in the long term) matters for them to report on I seem to have missed it. Surpised as we get the Energy Saving Trust newsletters by e-mail, thought they would have made a big thing of it.
