A viewfinder needs to be matched with the focal length you are shooting with, so ideally only for a prime lens.

Setting instant review to off and toggling the info button will save you using the screen, though you will have to have your settings correct in advance as you won't be able to see any adjustments you make. If you set Auto Power Off to off then it will stay on and be ready to shoot after a period of inactivity.

Just what I was thinking and it is useful to have anyway. It's really quite straightforward to work out accurate positions and to learn how the Moon follows the Sun.

The 50-135 makes for a very nice portrait lens. I do like to use a tripod though at shallow depth of field to ensure the plane of focus stays just so and I do find the size of the lens makes it rather cumbersome on a tripod.

The K55mm f1.8 I think is a cracker, as sharp as I would want it to be, never disappoints always surprises. I favour it strongly over the M50mm f1.7 but that is a good lens too.

Very good observational photography. Some clever juxtaposition. Bark and smile is a piece of lightning quick thinking (or luck). I always enjoy your images.

I really like that first shot. I think I'd like it better than the one shot from the camera in the shot.

I have a cheap adapter too, it is pretty well built. There are some niche uses and some have indulged in very elaborate setups but I haven't yet seen any photo with adapted lenses that I would regard as particularly good. But it's quite fun to have a play every once in a while.

Why don't you just look at the real RAW histogram with something ....
I'm not familiar with Rawdigger, but from a quick scan of the webpage, it seems to say you have to do the RAW conversion and then save as a TIFF before you can use it. This makes is a pain to use, especially as you can see the RAW histogram in ACR and which channels (if any) are clipped.

My question was directed at DrO ... I was wondering how he knew when actual clipping occured on the K5.

Andrew
I don't, that's why I am conservative with the onboard histogram. It's just based on experience where shots that look ok on the histogram still contain clipped highlights when processed.
