Moon will set early, skies are forecast clear, no light pollution here. Should be a good show tonight. Battery is being charged for a longy.

I must admit I prefer the convenience of the K series lenses.

However the M42's are cheaper. A K30 would be a good second body to have an M42 adaptor permanently fixed to.

I like 3 and 8 (despite the ruddy great pylon) best. The foreground water is excellent in 8, although the small amount of sky doesn't quite look right..

I'm afraid the rest don't really grab me although they are all very good compositions. I'm not an HDR fan in landscape and 1 and 7 definitely have that HDR look. With the others the light I don't think is the best, contrast is too high. I'm not keen on the wind blurred vegetation with the waterfall. I guess I am used to seeing magical light in your images and these don't have it. Too ordinary by your very high standards, sorry to be the lone sheep.

I have a FenixL20D, very compact and always goes in the camera bag. A head torch is pretty handy to have as well.

Trouble with the wide angle is that it will be now designed with the new crop factor in mind and is likely to be not so wide angle on the Q.

I don't think that's a negative review at all. I think it highlights the strengths and weaknesses rather well. It is just reviewed from the viewpoint of the enthusiast photographer, which is the point of that site. Reviews from other sites will highlight the appeal of the colour combinations.

It's a great product. I just wish they had put that size sensor in the original Q and put together a more sensible lens lineup from the outset.

Just get the original Pentax hood (silly price) or the JJC replacement version, which is not quite the same quality but locks in place nicely and is better value for money (imo).

Edit: reply crossed with above.

Imagine the amount of goodwill Pentax could have generated by admitting there was an issue, fixing affected lenses and announcing the redesign of the system to restore consumer confidence in sdm and give customers huge confidence in all products. It would have avoided the necessity of the op's question. An attitude like thay would win lifelong customers.

Indeed but information he was not probably not supposed to divulge, which is why I said a slip of the tongue. I bet he won't be so forthright next time.

Yes we can. It's called whistleblowing and it isn't very popular amongst employers. Corporate announcements on product faults are very carefully controlled to protect a company from additional expenses and litigation. The normal consequence of an engineer admitting a product fault would be the sack. The contract of employment carefully controls what information an employee can disclose about their employer.

If you read the articles a lot of the feedback is concern for the job security of the individual concerned. In this case I suspect it was a slip of the tongue rather than any form of officially endorsed communication channel.
