I haven't used the 55-300 that much at all, but I had a go at birds recently and I was very pleased with its performance, much better than I was expecting. I think I'd have to seriously get into wildlife or long distance action before considering upgrading. In fact I think I might look beyond Pentax in that case.

Wow,1400 shots Kind on batteries but not so on the shutter. What would a fully charged battery get you - an hour or two? On a very sturdy tripod you could change the battery OK and composite two or three shots. Alternatively I might invest in an AC adaptor (pricey yes, but worth it in the long term). I'm just waiting for the right conditions here (it's clear at the moment but too hazy for maximum star count) so I'll let you know what the results are on a full battery.

Quite unique, but what is Jimmy Greaves doing there (29).

For that starting price I would expect the seller to have a cursory check to spot any obvious faults, like they were broken.

I would ask for a refund. 100% feedback is precious.

I'm not sure the seller has been dishonest as they are sold as untested. They are only described as possibly OK.

It might depend on the start price - if it was set at 99p I don't think I would have a complaint as clearly it is a punt and arguably they are worth 99p.

But there's no harm in contacting the seller and asking for a refund.

The flower shots are the pick for me, 7 and 8 but especially 8. Enjoy the lens.

I have used JP a lot. I have found them to be very helpful and efficient. The speed is due to where your repair fits in to the queue, as prority is naturally given to warranty repairs.
