Yes it happened to me with both K5's, original and replacement. With the first camera it happened once and in a tricky lighting situation, underneath a very dark pier with a very bright background. With the replacement it has happened three times I think and always in bright sunlight but nothing unusual about the scene - just regular landscapes with blue skies. Each time it overexposed massively on matrix metering, by a good five or six stops at least. Definitely not user error as I checked the settings afterwards. I turned the camera off and on and it was fine. I haven't kept the photos - as long as it remains a very sporadic occurrence then it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It seems many consumer electronic items have the odd small glitch. Plus there is a two year guarantee so if it ever becomes a problem then I'm covered.

No. I have renovated a farmhouse in France and have many friends who have done the same. Those rules are universal and immutable.

Would anyone like to hazard a guess when I may actually finish the damn work in the house?

That's easy.

It will take exactly six times as long as you originally predicted. But it will never quite be finished. And it will cost two and a half times your original budget.

Then you will need to start maintaining it.

Nice piccies and congratulations to the little fella.

I should be grateful for recommendations. I noticed some blobs on my K5 sensor. They have proved hard to shift. I tried the camera sensor clean (no difference) then a blower (no difference) then Arctic butterfly (made it worse, arrrgh). So I think I'll have to resort to a wet clean. I've googled for options but some personal recommendations on effective methods would be appreciated.

Interestingly they don't show up at all on dust alert - the resultant image looks as clean as a whistle, but they are not related to the sensor stain issue as they moved around after the Arctic Butterfly wipe.

I don't think you'll find a bargain, but no need to pay over the odds as they do come up frequently.

Amazing fractal geometry and the good thing is they taste good too. I think this would look good (maybe even better?) in colour with the vivid green contrasting nicely with the black background.

Wow, what a trip! Some lovely photos too. I think "About To Be Deluged", "More of that sunset, as we leave the Raftsundet" and "Stabben Lighthouse" (second) are stunners. I'd love to see some higher res versions.

Welcome. It's very easy to attach your camera to the telescope. I presume you use 1.25" eyepieces. You need a T ring for Pentax Kmount, like this. That attaches to the camera. Then you add a T adaptor which screws into the T ring. You can get a simple one for prime focus or one that holds an eyepiece, either fixed or an extendable tube to vary the magnification.

It might not be possible isn't to achieve prime focus - I can't with my reflector, but if I add a Barlow that does the trick. However, I find that simply taking a photo with a lens attached through an eyepiece can give very acceptable results. I find the more compact the lens the better -zoom compacts are pretty good for this.
