I voted high contrast mono. I really like paulyrichard's version too (I assume that 300v1 preset is after the film 300) - I like how it brings out the cobbles.

Really nice set. 4 and 1 are my picks but for me the grainy sky doesn't quite suit the scene in the first.

Thanks for all the comments. It's nice to divide opinion. I'm not a great fan of converging verticals either but I did like the view from the bottom of that ramp with the different angles. It's quite a way below the level of the station so there was little choice but tilt the camera significantly - it was the 12-24 @ 14mm. It was too much distortion to correct so I just left it. I had a positive comment on flickr so I put in the PPG on the offchance and it was accepted. I think there is something about it, the foreground angles and the fanning in the sky which seems to combine with the convergence to give a somewhat dramatic look, but I see why plenty won't like it.

I liked 5 myself. There is a case for cloning but I'm easy on cables and the like. I clone the odd twig protruding from corners but I'm easy on most stuff. If it's there then it forms part of the scene for me.

Thanks Dave for the comment on the last shot. I like a bit of the dark side myself but it needs to be large to get the best from something like that.

I have been across a rather impressive aquaduct near Wrexham, but that's all I know about Wrexham.

The station is actually built of concrete, like the rest of Limoges. It's just that they disguised it nicely, unlike the rest of Limoges.

I like the colours in 1 and 3, but 2 is an excellent portrait.

From what I've read elsewhere and I have no idea whether or not it is accurate, Pentax Germany stated that the reason the stains can appear in time is that in some cases liquid got into the sensor during assembly and this can leave stains on eventual evaporation. Some process change to the assembly line meant that only cameras manufactured prior to week 50 2010 were affected. So maybe it is time related rather than shutter count related.

If that is so then the chances of them appearing will diminish with time and there should be little chance of an outbreak outside of warranty.

Excellent. I like the way the wine stands out. Nice to see some new world wine which is frowned upon in France.

Limoges is an unremarkable town but it does have a few things going for it, one of which is its railway station. A few views, C&C welcome as always:

Really nice set. My selection is the second. I imagine that style of garden is at its best in the rain.

My K5 will be replaced with a 4xxxx 2011 build. I don't see why the stain issue should put anyone off buying a K5 as Pentax are doing the right thing. I'm happy to have been an early adopter guinea pig as the service from SRS has been exemplary.
